Company does not care about employees

You can get free flights
Cons
Elimination and selection is done during training (after you are hired) rather than during the hiring process. New employees drop like flies because qantas sacks them at their first sign of weakness. If you lag behind in training they ask you to come in on weekends to make up for it without pay. Make one mistake, next week you’ll have a meeting booked with HR. They don’t care about us, we are just figures to them. It’s almost like HR has KPIs for faster employee turnarounds.

Flight attendant family perks are good
Cons
1) The cabin crew salary is 48k for a full time position. I am writing this in 2023 - that’s not enough to live. 2) After a tough selection process, once they “select” you and let you know you got the job, they tell you you need to obtain all the relevant certifications (RSA, first aid, etc). And then RADIO SILENCE. They say that they will contact you when they have availability for a training slot. They said the wait could be up to 4 weeks, I waited for 6+ months. I quit my job to have a bit of a “break”… but then was basically left unemployed. When you reach out to their HR you get no response. 3) I FINALLY was able to start training. The training is 8-9hr days (sometime weekends are required if you “fall behind” - no extra pay). It is an emotionally, physically, psychologically draining experience. You are required to study a ridiculous amount and sit 6x IN-PERSON WRITTEN exams with a pass mark of >80%. My university classes were less cruel than this. Some of my peers failed 2x exams and were FIRED because they were deemed “unfit” by their standards. How can a company have the audacity to ask this for much, and have such little flexibility, whilst paying us $48k?! People quit their jobs for a better job or a better life, but they are left unemployed within months because they received 70% in an exam on a topic they’ve never seen before???? If you receive an offer from Qantas as a cabin crew, SERIOUSLY reconsider it.
