Decent - Promising Future
1 Dec 2022 - Investment Management AssistantRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Ability to Take Ownership of Responsibilities - If you have an interest or a project your interested in, you can take interest and get involved, there is an encouragement of entrepreneurship Promising Future re: RBC takeover - RBC takeover could potentially mitigate some of the key issues with the company Much Improved Pay - Pay, which used to be poor, is much improved now Great, Relaxed, Culture - Everyone is personable and very different from the 'stuffy' environment you would expect from a wealth management firm Work/Life Balance - considering it's a role in financial services, the amount of work above 'contracted hours' is very minimal, other jobs in the industry could (and would) demand much more of your time
Cons
Poor Technology - Actually doing the job day-to-day can be frustrating, too many paper copies are used and modern systems have 'quirks' which make it very difficult to get 'quick-wins'. Future Growth/Development Difficult - Dependant on office, but the youngest Investment Manger is in there late 30s, they haven't added a new one in years.

Pros
Good salary and benefits and PMI.
Cons
Unorganised and poor management. Recruitment process was fairly simple and straightforward however the role in itself was completely different to what was advertised and what I signed up for. Dated systems and bizzare processes. Would not recommend however they did offer a good salary and package.

Pros
The workforce is supportive and friendly.
Cons
Progression isn't a priority. If you're looking to be supported through your exams and climb up the ladder, RBC expect you to work a good few years before they invest in you.

Experts at what they do, but you MUST be an extrovert to work here
5 Aug 2022 - Rather Not Say in London, EnglandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Are very people orientated and offer many employee benefits and initiatives that underpin the fairly average salary. Good support for extracurricular activity like charity days, social events, mental wellbeing, mentoring, networking and personal development support. Flexible/Hybrid working is relatively successful and coped well during COVID period. Good support from technology team to keep wheels on.
Cons
Salary not competitive. Mostly average but uncompetitive in some places. Role based training could be better, particularly in areas where processes are poorly defined. Nepotism and presenteeism prevalent. It's not what you know - it's who you know at Brewin. Promote and create roles for sycophants and self-promoters Not a place suited for introverted or humble individuals. Favours extroverts and networkers the most. Favours client-facing staff in leadership structures - several have been over promoted and have more responsibility than they can cope with or beyond their skillset. Whilst there is growing diversity in support departments such as IT but very little in client facing roles, particularly ethnic minorities. Blame culture. You need to keep your nose clean as leadership like someone to blame, stems from an overly competitive and combative senior team.

4 Oct 2022 - CGT Administrator in London, EnglandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The work was easy and the pay was okay. The manager I worked with directly was nice.
Cons
I was paid less that the other two people in my team and I was doing the same job, one of whom had the exact same employment background as me. When I queried this they said it was based on my experience. It was a data entry job that anyone could do. A job interview took place on teams in front of me and they offered a new candidate more money than me and this was someone who had no experience of the role. It was clear that racism and misogyny were present. A partner mixed up the names of two different Asian women who worked directly with her. There was a controlling mentality, all the while they said they were flexible.
