I worked at REA Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Lots of people are willing to teach you about all things tech. There's a lot of good stuff to learn if you're in an exciting part of the business with supportive mentors. The guilds are phenomenal and a great source of knowledge.

    Cons

Product people interfere with technology and somehow get incentivised for doing so. Managers and leaders like to get stuff done now without much long term planning. They get rewarded for making these compromises and by the time they are promoted, it's someone else's problem to solve. The current executive team (2020) is very uninspiring. The chief people officer dealt with the latest restructure horribly. The chief engineer knows very little about technology.

I worked at REA Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The culture is incredible, you get to work with a lot of smart and very friendly people. Its a very supportive environment and I loved going to work every day. There are endless company events and there is always something fun happening in the office.

    Cons

Processes and system were being updated. Sometimes politics got in the way of process improvements. Depends on the department however career progression can be hard due to a number of key people staying in their role for a long time.

Smart colleagues, flexible work arrangement, plenty of fruit and some managers still genuinely care about their people.

    Cons

CEO, CFO and their senior leadership teams are out of touch with their employees. Some managers are lazy and like going behind their new managers backs to whinge about them.
