      Pros

      Work with good smart people that really care about the work they are doing.

      Cons

      Too much middle management. SLT vision seems a bit over zealous at times (see cloud wars with AWS). Moving away from what Rackers did best and that was provide excellent support that kept customers feeling like they were more than just a ticket number that needed to get crunched.

      Pros

      Flexible WFH schedule during COVID Company has shown efforts to ensure the mental well being of its staff during COVID

      Cons

      Forget about pay raises once you're in. Middle management is weak, with no technical vision or desire for improvement. Initiatives driven from the bottom up will fall on deaf ears. This is a place where your technical career goes to die. Stay very far away if you're young, ambitious and looking to make an impact in the world of technology. Your talents are better spent elsewhere, where they can be properly appreciated. Rackspace is happy to keep you in your backwater post till you rot and languish, as long as there are bodies there to man the projects/queues. There's no investment from management in your career. Rackspace "Technology" is a technology company stuck in the past. Software tooling/technology/infrastructure is ancient. Don't come here expecting to work on bleeding edge technologies. You'll be weighed down by their awful ticketing + wiki system and dealing with all the technical debt that comes with the legacy infrastructure/applications from all their terrible acquisitions (post Apollo) As of Q3 2020, they are $3.4 billion in debt and just did layoffs to offset the $101 million net loss. They've not had an positive operating quarter since the Apollo acquisition in 2016 and are bleeding out money left and right to interest expenses. Ton of outsourcing to India (Global workforce is the PC term for this). Kevin Jones and his team are following the DXC Technology playbook (I wonder where the inspiration for "Rackspace Technology" came from? They even have similar taglines..Thrive together vs Solving together) If you want to know what's in store for the future of Rackspace, just look up "DXC Technology stock" No back fill for US workers. Continually asked to do more with less resources. All I see are cost cutting measures that don't improve the employee experience or the customer experience. It's great when you're reporting to wall street, but there's only so much you can cut before you actually need to invest in some process improvement. Those double digit YoY growth and investor reports are all smoke and mirrors. The current stock price (17.02) reflects the market confidence and the see through all the fake sunshine/rainbows. Reported sales growth is not organic, rather achieved through the acquisition of companies (DP, Tricore, Onica), which indicates that there's nothing compelling about the Rackspace offering at its core. They've taken on significant debt to acquire these companies. Rackspace is almost never the cheapest option, and their support experience has gone from being "fanatical" to "fantastical". I struggle to answer why anyone would choose Rackspace, but it's a $2.4 billion dollar company so people must have a reason. Staff cuts have resulted in operations staff operating in firefighter mode all the time. Rackspace is transitioning from a infrastructure hosting provider to a "cloud services provider". For anyone who is working on an infrastructure team, they'd better start planning their next move, cause there's only so many DCs you can consolidate and migrate out of.

      PTO is great, quarterly team outings to disengage from work and internal infrastructure is top notch.

      Cons

      Top Middle management is horrible, whenever there is a top tier change, middle management does not consult with their team leaders. Sysadmins are running thin and more tasks get out on top of already stressed out workforce, therefore, crappy tasks get changed without middle management fighting back. Work from home free days were removed company wide, no longer a plus. Global expansion has lowered hiring within the US. Account managers promise a lot of things to clients that do not align with Rackspace own policies. Pay is low, there is a push for higher knowledge but there is a cap on raises. If you decided to apply, ask for a good offer and fight it, otherwise walk away since you will not see a raise if you are not doing better than your coworkers or if your team is full of seasoned employees. You will have to stand out from the bunch to get a raise. 401K is not good at all opt for a ROTH with your local/online bank, health plans have lowered in quality. If you work other shifts, you will be ignored. First shift will always be taken cared of before any other shifts, shifted managers do a great job fighting for acknowledgement of their teams.

      Pros

      Exposure to a wide variety of technology. High attrition can give people opportunities work in positions that may have taken years to attain in a more stable company.

      Cons

      Poor senior leadership that chases pet projects and short term wins. People are not given the tools to be successful. High attrition with minimal back fills. Middle management is afraid of senior leadership because of the high risk of being fired. Very hard environment to be successful in.

      A lot of great and intelligent people working here

      Cons

      Middle management is lost and afraid. Kevin the CEO is flying around the world posting internally about the great time he is having, not a good morale booster when raises are not good and spending has been cut. A lot of good people have left or are looking to leave. Not the place it used to be.

      Pros

      Rack gives back, free lunches , free breakfast , staff fun budget. Clever people doing clever things

      Cons

      No clarity on mission or goals. Wants to be an MSSP, but middle management only know managed hosting. The permafrost of this middle management frustrates technical SME’s and confuses the top tier.

      - Very including atmosphere and a highly diverse environment - People in general are super friendly - Rackspace encourages its employees to actively take part in philanthropic activities

      Cons

      - Too many middle management tiers - Unqualified middle management people - Highly opinionated technical leaders - Standing your ground on certain technical issues is loathed upon - To be successful, you need to align your line of thought to your technical leaders - else you will be shut down ! - Promotions in the engineering org are not on merit but rather on peer recommendations which could be highly biased.

      The people are some of the best and most talented I have ever worked with.

      Cons

      As soon as a company comes into San Antonio requiring these types of talents they will be filled quickly. Rackers will leave in droves. There is absolutely no room for growth. You may get promoted from L1 to L2 but your job will be exactly the same. Most front line managers are alright. Middle management is horrible. I didn't even know Earthlink(Yes, the company) was still around until we got their CEO.

      O'Fixies is a really helpful place.

      Cons

      Rackspace is a call center that runs every other BU as if it was a call center. Teams are broken up into smaller teams to allow for middle management kingdom building, and individual thought and direction is stomped out in favor of scripts and playbooks. If you want to really feel like a cog in a big, inefficient machine, Rackspace is the best place for you. On the engineering side of things, every product is continuously overcommitted, under delivered and late. Deadlines are suggestions, and the amount of red tape created by Rackspace's prolific CYA culture is ridiculous. Customers churn pretty quick when their planned install is months+ out because of some internal process. Rackspace's offerings are not compelling, their support model is outdated and stagnant, and everyone that excels at what they do quickly leaves the company.
