    I have been working at Regis Salon part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    *Excellent place to start and get experience, especially as an Apprentice.
    *Located in a mall, so a great opportunity to do different types of hair.
    *The longer you do hair, you will have a chance to build clientele and hit commission.
    *Love Tools for the Pro. Love using points to buy tools!
    *Designline and Matrix are both awesome lines. Love Matrix Colour!
    *Level system pricing. Prices of your services are a reflection of your experience and how long you’ve been with Regis.
    *Mentor stylists willing to help and assist any new or learning stylists.
    *Points/reward system
    *Regis Employee Portal very easy to use. Workplace is an awesome way to connect.

    Cons

    *Very low hourly/base wage. Minimum wage even when you have your Journeyman Certification....
    *No Education opportunities. Very rare if any.
    *Staff Discount (Retail) went from 50% to 20%
    *No advertising or promotions to get people into the salon
    *Irregular pay schedule (No set day to receive our paycheques) It varies every time period. Very frustrating for Canadian employees.
    *POS and Scheduling Software is very slow and not modern or up to date
    *Dress code is very basic. Hard to express individuality.
    *Colour line is limited. We don’t get any of the new releases from Matrix.
    *Can be very cheap in regards to not supplying things the salon needs. (Repairs, cleaning services).
    *Retail selection is limited and not to the discretion of stylists in our location
    *No part-time benefits available for Canadian employees

    Advice to Management

    It’s be nice to be treated like a person...not just a number.

    I worked at Regis Salon part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    The actual structure isn't bad, the walk-ins are very appreciative, the products aren't horrible, the client experidnces & the atmosphere.

    Cons

    FRANCHISED. No room for individuality, no raises, no continuing education, you can't promote yourself outside of the "Regis community". No benefits

    Advice to Management

    Please incorporate individuality with the new face of Regis, its a cool family.

    Not overwhelming busy. Lots of free time

    Cons

    Managers don’t care, high turn over, no continued education, district leaders don’t care, lots of drama, new company has no clue what they are doing

    Advice to Management

    working here was hard when managers were lax on own appearances and attendance but would criticize and talk down to you on your own. If you are in the beauty industry that starts with yourself, From my experience is like a bunch of white trash women who want to be fancy but not take time in own self care or education to further their career

    Walk in clients, during busy times.

    Cons

    Very outdated. The shop has needed work for years and it doesn’t get done. They want the stylists to do everything..cleaning (beyond the typical), repairs, marketing, and we even have to go get our own color sometimes! For employees on commission, you are not getting paid to be a maid, etc. You get paid when you are doing hair. They should compensate for slow times.

    Advice to Management

    Revamp the salons. Clients don’t want to get their hair done in a place with floors worn down to nothing, and ceiling tiles all stained up. It looks bad for the price the client is paying.

    Pros

    Mall locations bring in walk in guests and other stores in mall are getting updated every 10 years.

    Cons

    Store falling apart. Wall paper falling off wall, floor breaking, computers are slow and out dated. Shampoo bowls broken. Salons have poor ventilation.

    Advice to Management

    Build it and they will come.
