Hmmm, thing can only get better....right?

      Pros

The benefits at present are pretty good and hopefully continue under OVO group. When working within departments the team work can be a god send with certain situations.

      Cons

The senior management, HR and those who bleed the colours of the company fail to see where there is fault or accept somethings don’t work hence why the company sold the retail business. The concern for mental health being tick box exercise and the way in which sickness and emergency leave is dealt with is laughable and always about how the company has lost out or how time will be paid back. There’s also complete lack of investment in educating and growing the knowledge base of staff unless it’s a benefit to business in a way the see a benefit and not whether it could reap rewards within another area at later date.

      Good to work for

      Pros

Good company in general, biggest employer in Perthshire . Generally fair terms and conditions

      Cons

Can be frantic and a bit in organised. Poor performance isn't generally managed very well which leads to incompetent senior management as those people progress. Progression can be fairly quick through different roles but then don't like paying you for your additional responsibility

Poor management ruin what was a good job

      Pros

      Pay and benefits are good.

      Cons

Bad senior management with a bullying culture. Constructive dismissal not unknown and people were arbitrarily selected and asked to leave under protected conversations. Staff morale was very poor when I left.

      Pros

Good pay, free parking, structured training.

      Cons

Senior management promoting due to personality instead of knowledge, skills and experience. Work can be repetitive.

Over-zealous internal policies and procedures; ineffective middle to senior management

      Pros

Great facilities, flexible working, salary half decent

      Cons

(This relates to IT) Flexible working is new - still a great distrust of employees and not enough desk space which isn't addressed properly No rewards, promotion, development. Rife with internal politics, old school middle management aided and abetted by an ineffective senior management layer that floats with ease from position to position, antiquated appraisal system, horrific absence policy; management seem to be able to circumvent open and fair recruitment at will.

Felt like being back in the 1980's but not in a good way!

      Pros

Comprehensive benefits package although salaries often lower than market rates.

      Cons

Senior management view women as only capable of admin and support tasks. I am a professional woman but was asked to take minutes in every meeting I attended and my opinion ignored. Old boy's club culture with sexist jokes commonplace. No flexible working. Don't work here, particularly if you are female. There are so many better companies out there - none of these issues at my current employer.

      Interesting company!

      Pros

      - Great new office in Reading. - Flexible working hours. - Attracting great people with a can-do attitude.

      Cons

      - Lack of pace or a sense of urgency. - Not listening to the expertise or knowledge which newly hired people bring. - Overly complex projects which are not sustainable or viable. - Reliance on external consultants. - The number of repetitive presentations. - When creating a project to deliver new products, the senior management team leading it need to have the correct experience and expertise. - "Get it right first time" attitude, rather than "test and learn". - One of the most risk adverse companies in the world! - Safety is re-iterated beyond belief. You will get shouted at for not holding the handrail when walking down stairs! Seriously!?

Okay depending on what you're looking for.

23 Mar 2018 - Real Time Systems Delivery (RTSD) Field Engineer in Perth, Scotland, Scotland
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

-Team had skilled Engineers / Project Managers. -Working with a wide range of IT/Comms/Control equipment. -Opportunities were opening up in other roles. -Strong union membership and decent terms and conditions overall. -Several base options were proposed after an initial period in Perth. -Training courses both internal and external were common. -Very strong health and safety culture.

      Cons

-Snail pace progression within the role itself. Expect to wait 6-12 months to gain the necessary competencies and courses to be allowed to work alone (even if experienced with similar systems). If you’re moving internally, you’ll most likely have what you need already. -I was told that the RTSD Field Engineer roles were not as stable as made out by Senior management. -Constant talk of cost saving and keeping shareholders happy. -No Paid overtime - TOIL offered instead. -Use of own car packed/laden with tools for company business. -No computer or full access to systems for months after start date.
