I worked at Saipem for more than 3 years

      Pros

Unique offshore installations - interesting to work on and learn new things. Salary is good if well negotiated.

      Cons

Poor benefits and almost no care about personnel development. People are often forced to travel to unwanted destinations to fulfill project requirements.

      Advice to Management

Change the motto "Saipem pays less but it pays on time". This was actually said by a highly positioned HR person, in front of hundred or so employees.

      I worked at Saipem

      Pros

Great company for oil sector, every body hard working, capable to perform any challenging project in due time. Resourceful, excellent wages and may learn a lot from job training. Safety on top of every step. Respect multinational employees.

      Cons

Higher management and middle management are not capable enough to merge with the procedures of North American business. Impatience practice and hire and fire attitude is a serious negative practice with the middle management of Italian staff.

      Advice to Management

Despite of learning in the beginning in Canada the company's top management and middle management never been reshuffle much to improve the business.

I worked at Saipem full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Good for young engineers with little or no experience in oil industry. Lots of exposure early on, but this is where it ends.

      Cons

No career prospects in long run, if your not Italian or British (in UK office). Chaotic organisation not for everyone, but for most flexible and resourceful people. Poor managers, not interested in development of young engineers. HR very poor. Making a lot of simple mistakes, slow, unresponsive, and very unprofessional.

      Advice to Management

Treat all equally and engage with people. Don't be arrogant.
