I have been working at Salt Lake VECC full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The people: Some of the employees here are fantastic people who I've thoroughly enjoyed working with. The pay: Hard to argue against a $15 starting wage with no prior experience.

    Cons

Management: Poorly structured is the only way to describe VECC. The management is uncaring at best and unapproachable at worst. Quality Assurance: A few employees work in what we refer to as the "Q group" and that's all they do is QA, they are not required to come out and do the job they are judging others for. On the rare occasion that one of them does come out to work a channel or call take, they tend to cause more harm than good. The "Lifers": Employees who have worked here for 10+ years act arrogant and entitled and make the work environment unbearable for the newer employees, which is a serious problem when the retention rate is already less than 50% in the first year of employment.

I worked at Salt Lake VECC full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The employees are passionate. They work hard, despite sweatshop conditions, and have a true love and care about public safety. The calls they field affect them personally. Many of them bear the burdens of each other as well as the citizens for which they work.

    Cons

-Dismally low pay -Poor management -Inability to voice concerns without fear of punishment -Unapproachable and unreliable HR -Inability to use accrued vacation time -Mandatory overtime -Biased management -Low morale -Lack of feeling of appreciation

I worked at Salt Lake VECC full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great opportunity to help others and serve your community. The people who work here are very dedicated and love their job and unfortunately they have to swallow their pride to work in such a place.

    Cons

Employees are overworked and have seen their salaries reduced over time because they haven't received raises or cost of living in several years. Turnover is extremely high because of the working conditions and pay and employees are now required to work overtime. Supervisors and managers are clueless and do not know how to do their job OR mine. Supervisors and managers have their favorites and will target anyone who is not.

I worked at Salt Lake VECC full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good people work here. Its easy to gain seniority to begin with, due to fairly rapid employee turnover. They do allow some downtime activities to help with long boring graveyard shifts.

    Cons

Very low pay for the industry. Very difficult to further your career here. Valuable employees are undervalued. Employee concerns are often ignored by management.

I have been working at Salt Lake VECC full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

State retirement and average benefits. Treating people like crap keeps the employee churn high; take the job sleep through training and quit it's what we do.

    Cons

Terrible pay. You can make close to the entry level salary at In-N-Out without all the BS and stress and months of training
