    Pros

Good exposure to the latest fabrication technologies

    Cons

Pathetic work culture. You will be treated as an underdog of Korean dictatorship. Your managers will make you feel so even if the Korean counterparts are good at times.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Samsung Semiconductor Inc (US) full-time

    Pros

The gym, cafe, and chill zone arcade are nice.

    Cons

Culture is opressive. Little autonomy. A lot of micromanagement. New senior leadership is dispatched from Korea every two years and rarely attempts to understand the locals as things must be done the Korean way. The CEO visits the site once or twice per year. The local VPs are not allowed to make any significant decisions or improvements. Tenure is valued over competence or productivity. A very challenging place to work.

I worked at Samsung Semiconductor Inc (US) full-time for more than a year

    Pros

If you're working on memory or another core business and like to do only that exact thing and ask little else of the company but to employ you in that work, it could be good for you. Base salary and bonus are relatively high.

    Cons

If you have another other ambition, creativity, cross-functional problem-solving skills, communication skills, critical thinking, etc. not the place for you. Deep bureaucracy, enormous middle management, leadership rarely makes decisions, projects are laundered around the company through new budgets, not much product insight.

I have been working at Samsung Semiconductor Inc (US) full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Really great team, good work/life balance, interesting and challenging work, the company makes you feel valued and takes good care of their employees, a supervisor I trust and respect, and last but not least surprisingly really great food (breakfast, lunch, and dinner and in between as well). I really like working at Samsung - it truly is a great place to work.

    Cons

sometimes chains of communication between US-based teams and Korea-based teams are not efficient, can be too layered

  10. "Experience at San Jose office"

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at Samsung Semiconductor Inc (US) full-time

    Pros

    Campus amenities and some benefits

    Cons

In my opinion, this division has allowed for rampant sexism and racism. Much of the leadership team (S&M) is appalling and many Corporations would consider their behavior as fireable offenses. HR is a disaster with constant turnover. D&I and community outreach initiatives are performative while not addressing internal issues.
