Doesn't RecommendPositive OutlookNo Opinion of CEOI have been working at Seagen full-time for more than 3 years
Pros
CEO is very patient-centric and pipeline development is very strong. Employees have opportunities to work on a variety of projects and gain valuable experience very quickly. Most employees have been allowed to work from home during the Covid-19 pandemic. Many direct managers are easy to work with and supportive of career development.
Cons
Fast timelines and slow decision making by management can create challenging workloads and require regular overtime. The company is growing very quickly and structural processes are constantly in flux, which is causing a lot of inefficiency and an increase in workloads. It can be hard to get promoted in some departments because there are strict time requirements in positions regardless of performance.

RecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEOI have been working at Seagen full-time for less than a year
Pros
Strong support for working remote during COVID19, plenty of tools and resources to work from home. Opportunity to work hard and help build strategically while the business moves quickly. Support from leadership for maintaining work-life balance if experiencing overload of work. Generous compensation
Cons
Company is growing so infrastructure and organization lacking or not built out in some departments. High volume of work can lead to working more than average 40-hr week

"Seattle Genetics is an excellent company with awful IT leadership"

Positive OutlookApproves of CEOI have been working at Seagen full-time for more than 5 years
Pros
SeaGen has many superb scientists and process engineers. A lot of the people who work there are good at their jobs, and are warm, pleasant people. Company leadership seems to genuinely care about both patients and employees. The departments outside IT seem to be generally well-run, and the employees are happy and well-treated.
Cons
The company is growing very quickly, and some of the growth is not being handled well by managers who were more comfortable in a 200-employee biotech. The IT group is a different animal. SeaGen has a long history of underinvesting in IT, which for years was run by a man who grotesquely incompetent ("windows only", "no cloud"), creating an IT group that was poorly prepared for growth. The last leader was disengaged, but brought many positive changes. The current leader appears to be obsessed with unimportant, flashy, low-hanging fruit that looks good but doesn't contribute to the long-term health of the company. Most of the IT leadership has very little industry experience and doesn't appear to understand the nuances of working in a regulated industry.

RecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEOI have been working at Seagen full-time for more than a year
Pros
Great place to work with fantastic, fun, dedicated people. From walking into the place, you get the feeling that the company is fully dedicated to helping patients. The science behind the products is fascinating and sometimes we get to hear patient perspectives. When you work on a specific study, you truly feel like you're making a difference for people. Work/life balance is well maintained. The company still maintains a small company feel while continuing to grow.
Cons
The Bothell campus does have some traffic coming into the area with the other companies in the area. As with any growing company, there are always going to be growing pains, but they're managed well by leaders and employees.

Company is growing fast, so risks losing positive culture. That being said, management is aware and values keeping the culture that employees value.
