I have been working at Shoe Zone part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good staff discount on all products

    Cons

Be prepared to be guilted into a lot of unpaid work. Management quick to pull in the team to encourage us and say we need to pull together and work as a team, but it's a cryptic way of saying you're expected to work entire days for free without pay. Even after doing double my contracted hours, I only get paid what I'm contracted to do.

I have been working at Shoe Zone part-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Uniform is provided for free - Small contribution towards work trousers - Free (out of a selection) work shoes - Christmas bonus's - Hour breaks (only after 4 hours) - Over time is almost always available - You do get some nice customers - 25% off staff discount (but only available after 6 month probationary period)

    Cons

    - Minimum wage - Not so flattering outfit (you get used to the blue) - You don't get paid for coming in earlier/staying after - (In my case) supervisors believe that they are so much higher than they actually are and assign poorer jobs to the less experienced and younger staff - Younger staff tend to get blamed for things automatically (due to the lack of cameras) - Shoplifting is a frequent occurrence - Management is barely on the shop floor - The stockroom is very messy - hard to navigate and get the stock customers need - Occasional rude customers (but this is almost every job) - Due to lack of staff, I was forced to come in when I was ill because no one could cover me. - No sick pay - Was not allowed to take emergency time off due to a death of a family member

I have been working at Shoe Zone part-time for more than a year

    Pros

25% Staff Discount, Christmas Bonus, Christmas Party, uniform is provided, work shoes are now free (whereas before you had to pay for them using your discount) and now £8 is paid towards work trousers (depending on job title, example: I'm a part-time Sales Assistant so I get £8 once a year towards work trousers). At the store I USED TO work in (before it closed down), the store I CURRENTLY work in and another store I have twice COVERED FOR on a Sunday (so that's three separate, local stores) all the staff are absolutely amazing! So, so friendly and upbeat. We banter all the time and they feel like extended family. Who knew you could have such a laugh at work eh? The job itself is mostly very basic and easy, however the frequent moves, finding somewhere to put new lines and filling in empty gaps on shelves when there's not enough stock to do it with can be a bit challenging! :P Add the customers on top and you've got yourself a retail job. Even so, I can't imagine working anywhere else. I just love it.

    Cons

Minimum wage. :/ Uniforms aren't very flattering! x'D
