I worked at SkyWest Airlines full-time for more than a year

    Pros

In person interviews, paid training (only ~$800 for a month when I went in 2017 but at least it's something), flight benefits with multiple airlines, health benefits, they called me when they saw a hurricane had hit in my zip code, great place to learn a bit of everything about the commercial airline industry, occasionally good overnight trips, a lot of bases around the country lend for flexible living situations. It was a pretty fun and interesting job for the few years I was there, I used my benefits to see Europe and only had to pay the taxes getting back in the country! Skywest is the best regional airline if you choose to go the regional route. I had a lot of friends in my class move on to other mainline airlines eventually, so if you are wanting to work for Delta eventually, don't be afraid to start at Skywest for a while.

    Cons

Biggest con is yearly you are only paid ~$24000 for first few years which is almost minimum wage, you do get raises for every year you stick around, but that is a long climb to really do something with your money as just a flight attendant. To make more you need to get experience and then apply to be a lead instructor/trainer flight attendant if you are interested. Or work yourself to the maximum legal hours, but not many do that, it's too exhausting. I noticed the happiest flight attendants working for Skywest usually were in their older age or this was just a form of secondary income in their house so the financial aspect was not a stress. As a young single person with no other income, you will get by, but not have any money to invest or do anything big. Flight benefits are nice but since you work for a regional airline, expect to be towards the bottom of a lot of standby listings, and you will still be paying a fee for your buddies to fly, so sometimes it wasn't worth it for just a nonguaranteed ticket. It takes a while to get used to the life style, you will miss a lot of holidays, birthdays, etc. as you fly about half of the month. Dealing with the flying public these days means you will get filmed or your picture taken sometimes if something goes wrong and they are mad. As the flight attendant you are the face they see when they are ready to complain, so be ready to maturely handle passengers attitudes.
