Met some great people & life long friends

Managers & owners are flaky. Favoritisms all around the store. The guys get paid more than the girls do. They expect you to do more work than your title for no extra pay. No paid vacations or holidays. Only closed one day out the year.

Pros

Great job if you are just getting out of college. Learned the basics of selling. Met some great people and had fun working with them. Lot's of happy hours and got educated on wine.

Cons

Holiday time was rough working everyday of the week. Pay was not that great! Get dirty almost everyday working back stock and building displays.

If you're young, single and just starting out your sales career then this is the place for you. Pay and incentives are decent but have reduced dramatically over the years. Non managers are great people to work with and of course, events, parties and new product kickoffs happen almost nightly which means free booze.

Cons

Bad management starts from the top and all have no street experience. Goals are unrealistic and do not support organic growth in the market. Constantly threatened to hit your goals or lose your job.

Great people on the team, Good hours, Pleasant environment, Good salary.

There could be better communication between management and employees. Employees don't feel appreciated.

Great benefits; work with great people; fun industry; lots of side perks and the company is very family-friendly. Encourages personal and professional growth, pays for tuition and much room for advancement.

Cons

If you have a bad manager, there is no recourse for you. You will lose money because part of your annual bonus is based on their appraisal. You will even lose your job for refusing to break the law. Do not bother with HR - they do not care about anything except the company. Pay is not competitive past the sales force level.
