RecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEOI have been working at Spencer Stuart full-time for more than 3 years
Pros
Associates at Spencer Stuart deliver the executive searches for the firm and are expected to be highly professional. You are given plenty of autonomy to manage your own time but are expected to deliver the best results for clients. In return the salaries are good and there are plenty of perks. An Associate in the London Office has their own office and the latest equipment. You are given a free laptop, iPhone and home desk equipment. The bespoke systems allow you to work from anywhere in the world and automate documentation as much as possible. You do not work in excel or PowerPoint generally. The atmosphere in the office is positive and encouraging. Associates are highly collaborative and share ideas. People always give you time and support of needed. There are plenty of social events and trips to the pub are regular, if you want to be involved. The consultants are generally very smart and driven. There is plenty to learn from former industry leaders and search professionals. You are treated as an adult and not micromanaged. Promotion is done fairly and is determined at a corporate level with an interview process. Associates are promoted to Consultants regularly, unlike competition. Training is excellent and firm will pay for you to fly to Chicago for 3/4 day training courses. You get to work on the highest level searches and will regularly place chief executives of large companies. You meet interesting people and they respect the Spencer Stuart brand. Strong focus on diversity internally and externally. Bonuses are generous. Free private healthcare and good pension.
Cons
The hours are not set and you are simply expected to deliver to deadlines. Hence you have to work late sometimes or at weekends. Hard work is rewarded with promotion and bonuses. Firm could be more transparent with feedback. Lean teams. Some Consultants are more traditional / hierarchical. It can be difficult to move to other offices within the firm.

Pros
Fabulous (and free) benefits, profit sharing, four years vacation after four years, great team atmosphere, great systems, great learning atmosphere.
Cons
No chance to move up from this job, it's a dead end. EA job is very busy, the job seems to be moving towards a more basic, more report/data entry driven role that pays less. Company has experimented with taking bonuses and raises away from the EA staff at some East Coast offices over a couple years, and most quit after that. Not sure where that was leading leading but it can't be good.

Doesn't RecommendNeutral OutlookNo Opinion of CEOI worked at Spencer Stuart full-time
Pros
Compensations & Benefits and free food
Cons
They say they are open to transparency, but you're in for a rude awakening. I've never witnessed such a toxic high-level stressful work atmosphere with reputably judgemental characters in my 18 years. It is not a professional work environment; this is a drama reality show. Where is the teamwork when workers gossip behind someone's back to undermine someone else's reputation? Some Admin Managers are not doing their job, especially since they fancy favorites and gossip about their staff. A reason why I would keep my door closed only to speak to a select few that are kind and thoughtful and avoid negative people. It doesn't matter if you are working hard at demanding hours and be excellent at what you do. Loyalty does not matter. If you got an offer, leave while you still can. If you're not at the top, you are already at the chopping block.

Pros
- Smart and friendly colleagues - Many opportunities for career advancement - Good culture - Competitive salaries - Bonuses
Cons
- Some old tech products
Pros
Great lunch at Amsterdam office. The corporate office has nice collegues.

Its very hierarchical. Top executives are not visible/approachable (they are client-facing and have consulting goals so no time for people management)
Pros
I like the free doughnuts.
Cons
Management could be friendlier. No one likes lower level employees.
