    Cons

The success ratio depends on your individual capacity to make your own schedule and be disciplined. This job offers a lot of flexibility so some advisors may not fully utilize it to its capacity. So success relies on your hard work solely. You either win at his job or you lose, depends on your efforts.

    Advice to Management

Great Scarborough Diamonds management style. I perhaps have the best team to rely on. They give you their time and help to help you in every aspect of your business.

I worked at Sun Life full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Commission structure is good if you are a decent producer. Products are industry leaders. National branding gives you instant credibility.

    Cons

You're forced to rent and office that is very expensive. Insanely expensive for what you get. You are told you are an advisor, but you are not an advisor. You are a sales person. When you start out you are selling life insurance, as you get more experience and build a larger block of business you are selling investment products. But you are selling. If you can sell vacuums door to door, or if you can sell used cars,...

I have been working at Sun Life for more than 8 years

    Pros

Learning is very good, compensation is very good but based on your own performances, so it only good as you sell, not service.

    Cons

The company thinks that they're perfect, they shift all responsibilities to the advisors and act as if they give support. Compensation is based on campaigns, no recognition towards the customer service everything is based on sales, not service, company is oriented Insurance and minimally on investment. The global approach is promoted verbally but not really on a day to day bases.

    Advice to Management

Learn about the advisor's reality vs customer's objectives. Look closer on how customers are treated, advisors should have a global approach, but unfortunately, they don't have the time to follow customers objectives, the advisor is paid to sell. They sell life insurance product, as an investment, that is ok in some specific cases, not all the time. Advisors are paid on premiums sold, not on the quality of the...

I worked at Sun Life full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They butter you up from time to time with perks in an attempt to keep you. This "job" made me a better person, learning from the mistake of taking this "career path" and learning to deal with poor leadership.

    Cons

If you have a soul you will go broke. Management will teach you how to SELL, but they won't teach you anything about insurance or financials. If you try to sell financial products without insurance (despite clients wants and even needs) they will be upset. I will not recommend working here to my worst enemy. YOU WILL GO BROKE LIKE ME. They will promise you the moon, DON'T LISTEN.

    Advice to Management

Not that management will listen - however, you should be HONEST with employees. Stop "recruiting" and focus on "employees" you currently have. Be very honest about how pay works.
