"Avoid! A company where profit is king, & staff are underpaid & undervalued"

Pros
- Residents are great (& their families supportive) - Care Home staff are generally kind & caring
Cons
- Pay is rubbish even by general Care Home standards (It seems always under review supposedly awaiting a positive realignment! ) - Staff levels at the Homes are always run at the minimum possible level (& in my experience below on some occasions) .... this leads to inevitable stress on Care workers, & with this obviously mistakes & accidents are bound to happen. - Management & particularly HQ staff... are unsupportive of their colleagues at the Homes (in many cases almost deliberately trying to be awkward) - With the CQC (Google the reports) & Local Authority scrutiny, plus the history of bad press the company has attracted .... I can only imagine that fairly soon someone will pull the rug from below Sussex Healthcare, & they'll be forced to close. I see this as ultimately a good thing.

Either put 'care' as the number 1 priority (with staff welfare at 2), & ignore the owners insistence for profit, profit, profit ... or leave & get another job!

Pros
there are zero pros to working for this company, just don't put yourself through it
Cons
Far too many to list. Really poor senior management, unprofessional managers, too much being swept under the carpet, awful pay, no benefits, no investment in their staff, if you speak up for yourself you may aswell pack up your stuff and leave. They'd be better off selling the business to someone who knows how to run a company.

Cons
The owner has no appreciation of the staff and doesn't invest well in reward and recognition in an industry that is struggling to recruit and retain

Doesn't RecommendNeutral OutlookNo Opinion of CEOI worked at Sussex Health Care full-time for more than 3 years
Pros
I worked for this company because of the love I have for people living with a disability. The company has rooms with all the accessories that support their lives.
Cons
Staff and management relationship is very poor. Management set up is more of authoritarian and no suggestions are taken from staff who work on the floor. No better statutory benefits for staff Staffs are not paid when on sick off. Staff turnover is very high as conditions of service for staff are very appalling. Staffs are always threatened with being laid off by managers. Deliberate staff cuts by managers to... make profits.
Show MoreAdvice to Management
Management should improve on staff-management relationship and provide a better incentive package to motivate staff. Management should protect staffs who have work-related problems. Management should have better pension plan for staffs.

RecommendsNeutral OutlookI have been working at Sussex Health Care part-time for more than 3 years
Pros
Fantastic working environment, friendly people, opportunities for continuous career development. Good organisational structure. Good policy on equality and discrimination.
Cons
Starting/basic salaries are the same as minimum wage which only increase with general increase in minimum wages. Minimal incentives.
Advice to Management
To increase basic salaries and increase incentives. Employ more staff and provide more flexibility for staffs with families. Make effort to regularise staffs on zero contract hours.
