I have been working at Swiss Re for less than a year

    Pros

They really care about you beyond what any other company would. If you´re a student, they care about you prioritizing College. Challenging projects. Excellent people will always surround you, no matter the seniority level. You actually feel like part of a team.

    Cons

Not much to complain about, maybe the hourly wage for interns could be a little bit higher.

I worked at Swiss Re for less than a year

    Pros

The people who work there are great and have a fantastic work environment--there's not many things that I dislike about it--there are flexible schedules, fairly frequent block parties to celebrate employees' achievements or department successes, the people are great, and the coffee machine makes a mean vanilla milk.

    Cons

There wasn't enough work to go around--for the first few weeks of the internship, I had very little, if anything to do, so it wasn't until the third week of the internship that I started actually having things to do. It wasn't so much an issue with the company itself, but because there were too many interns, it made it much harder to feel productive.

I worked at Swiss Re for less than a year

    Pros

Well respected name and above average pay. Employees hold each other to the highest standards. Internally competitive in a healthy way; there is not much in the way of office politics and back stabbing here. Clear expectations from the start of the internship.

    Cons

Tends to be very bureaucratic. Senior management focuses too much on "the numbers" that they will deliver to shareholders and not enough on what their employees are actually doing.

I worked at Swiss Re for less than a year

    Pros

Developed full-time onboarding program and the culture is very welcoming. Swiss Re has a global recognition and the work you do at any level is of the highest caliber. I especially liked the field of reinsurance simply because as an aspiring actuary it has options that are very similar to primary insurance but also has other roles that can offer a consultative experience. Also, as a non-US company the opportunity for global experience is easy to achieve.

    Cons

The area the NY office is in (Armonk, NY essentially Westchester) is not in a particularly exciting area as a new college graduate, but NYC is only a 30-minute train ride away. For living in the Westchester area, the pay is not outstanding.
