I have been working at Synaptics full-time

    Pros

pay is good or can be said that is little above market. Benefits are also good you get free food and cab facility. You can expect nice occasional goodies. Now lets talk about work. Synaptics has various divisions and I can speak for only multimedia division bangalore. if you don't have any self-respect and you are a malyali also then there are chances that you can get some good work.

    Cons

Management is very bad in bangalore. There is a very negative vibe in office because of the regional politics here. Work life balance is very bad, average no. of work hours here is 12hrs. They have a decent product but if you a non-malyali chances are high that you will get any good work. People speak in regional language here. No innovation happens in this office. No one even talks about new ideas/innovation.

I have been working at Synaptics full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

not a single benefit for regular employess

    Cons

new management bringing their buddies (in VP/SVP roles) every other week across all sites. no more stock options for regular employees. tweaked espp program to further erode employee perks. cutting costs to increase GM. layoffs every 6-9 months. unlimited PTO is a joke. cafeteria is substandard. no work life balance. you are expected to attend late night meetings and still show up at office by 9.

I worked at Synaptics full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Used to be a good stable place to work with good life/work balance and great people.

    Cons

Starting from 2015 company is going down... With a lot of pressure on core business (touch) company tries to find new businesses but it doesn't have a lot of success there... Each year (sometime twice a year) company layoff people... It is not a stable company anymore... People moral is low... current employees are looking for new opportunities elsewhere or waiting for next layoff and working without pushing too hard.

I worked at Synaptics full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good work life balance, they promote and advance women and minorities, the managers do not micromanage, the office is nice with a good cafeteria and gym, and they are serious about making a difference in their community. The combination of all these things are impressive.

    Cons

They keep overpromising and under delivering, while our competitors delivered. They just did not seem to grasp the complexity of some projects and underestimated how long it would take to make it work. This caused our customers to not trust our schedules and turn to competitors whose schedules they could trust.
