Great place to learn, develop new skills, create lasting relationships.

Tasty Brands allows you to create your own path and develop new skills. I have never previously worked in the food industry, so I have learned a lot of valuable information that has helped me advance my career path here. If you put in the necessary work and show proper insight, it will take you far in the eyes of upper management. Do not hesitate to ask questions as there will always be someone willing to help. Tasty Brands is a tight knit organization and the people that work here are one of my favorite aspects of the job. I know I have developed friendships here that will last a lifetime and it makes me excited to go into work the next day. A cool perk that’s given at Tasty Brands is free lunch Monday. Every Monday a different person in the office chooses where to order from and we get lunch delivered. Our CEO is also willing to invest in anything he thinks will help the company grow and prosper. For example, we just launched LinkedIn Learning for our employees. In terms of employee head count, Tasty Brands has nearly doubled in size since I started. Tasty Brands is a rapidly growing company, and I am happy to have joined the team during this major growth period.
Cons
One con is that Tasty Brands lacks some Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). I am not saying everything needs to be a written step by step procedure, but a lot of Tasty Brands processes rely on tribal knowledge. Tasty Brands is a very fast paced environment, which sometimes doesn’t allow us to celebrate the victories.

Always opportunities to grow
7 May 2023 - Customer Service Representative (CSR)RecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I’ve been here for less than a year and I’ve been able to branch out into other roles in the company and learn new skills. If you do a great job and have a great work ethic, this company will acknowledge it and move you up along with increases as they’ve done with me. They do provide free lunch on Mondays; they don’t micromanage you if you’re getting the work done and the potential to grow is the biggest bonus. It’s a fast-paced environment which might be a con for some, but I love it! I haven’t been treated in any negative way, everyone is very friendly and helpful so I can’t relate to some of the comments made below. So far, I’ve had a positive experience here.
Cons
A lot of the work I do is manual entry which comes with big room for error. Possibly using a new system or software that can eliminate that aspect. Also, more training on all the systems so we can better understand them.

Opportunity To Grow - Develop New Skills
12 May 2023 - Customer Service in Syosset, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The CEO and upper management are approachable. I feel that if I have any questions or concerns I’m able to speak freely and comfortably. Learning a new field , my Supervisor carves out weekly touch base to answer any questions, retrain and follow up. Also, approachable daily to answer questions. Overall team is friendly, professional and dedicated. Work -Life balance I feel is encouraged. Able to work from home if needed. I rather be in the office to be in constant contact with my peers to stay informed with business decisions through out the day. To work here you need to be organized, have good time management, stay focused to be able to answer questions in a fast paced environment. Room for growth in the company.
Cons
Training can be more streamlined. Maybe a formal outline for different departments to keep training consistent. Assigning a mentor for new colleagues to feel comfortable training and asking questions. Upgrade computer systems to alleviate manual error.

Great Growth Potential
11 Apr 2023 - Anonymous Employee in Syosset, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I have been at Tasty Brands for over 5 years. During my time here I have been able to progress in my career by working across a variety of responsibilities and projects. It has been both fun and rewarding by being able to gain a diverse range of experiences. The CEO’s door is always open, and he has always supported my growth and provided guidance and direction. As we continue to grow, we have had a need to add new positions and bring new people onboard. With the added expertise we have collectively improved existing processes. In addition, the people I work with are amazing team players. It’s great to be able to work in a team environment where everyone helps one another. That level of collaboration in a growing environment has been a large factor in my decision to stay and grow at Tasty Brands.
Cons
Tasty Brands has grown quickly and significantly since its inception in 2009. Since we are a fast-paced, more entrepreneurial environment, some of our processes have not grown accordingly. As we expand and build the team, we are actively working to implement more sophisticated processes and we are open to change. If you really like to roll up your sleeves and get involved in new things, our environment and culture would be great for you.

Great learning space to expand career
28 Feb 2023 - Anonymous Employee in Syosset, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I have learned a lot being at Tasty Brands. Upper management is very approachable, I’m able to ask questions and they always provide guidance. That communication allows trust to be built and I was given the autonomy to create an excellent team relatively quickly. My career has progressed from the time I was hired. If you show that you are dedicated and hard working with an interest in the day to day, your efforts do not go unnoticed. The CEO is very hands on and dedicated to his company and his employees- his passion for the industry shows in every aspect of how successful the company has been. Employees are empowered to share their ideas good or bad.
Cons
We need systems - as we grow as a company we need to grow in technology. Bringing in a system would eliminate many errors or challenges we face day to day. This also would expand our knowledge base and allow us to identify trends as we continue to scale up

Pros
Free parking, Friday comes once a week.
Cons
Everyone’s a director can’t direct anything.
Continue readingThanks for sharing your feedback and we are sorry that you feel this way. We continuously strive to make this a great environment for our employees. We have a handful of Directors at our Corporate HQ. Every one of these employees were promoted into the role based on their proven performance as our focus is to promote from within. Their respective teams really enjoy working for them as well. Our goal is to ensure that our employees are engaged and happy. If you are a current employee, we invite you to speak with your manager and/or human resources so we can discuss your concerns in specific detail and try to address them. We also understand that not everyone is the best fit for our environment. Thanks again for your feedback and please feel free to reach out to me directly to discuss.

All Positive Reviews are Fake/Coerced
26 Oct 2022 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
This company is really great at responding to true, terrible reviews with fake, good reviews very quickly- BRAVO! Truthfully, the owner buys lunch on Monday so that he can brag about it during the interview process as if he is a tolerable boss, and so that people will not dare to leave their seat all day long- don't be fooled.
Cons
The expectation is as close to a 60 hour work week as they can squeeze out of you. No matter how hard you try he will find a way to shred your efforts. Hard work is rewarded with more, not with mentoring, advancement, promotions or compensation. In the last review, the "Director of HR" posted about how helpful "HR" was in helping them advance their career- isn't that a bit of a coincidence? Clearly not honest reviews from employees.

Pros
No pros at all here
Cons
First off...the good reviews on here were coerced from upper management. I know because was asked to write one. Customer service department is a revolving door and management seriously lacking professionalism. They will hold you back and pile more work on you with no compensation and HR cover s it up. I wouldn’t be surprised if they write their own review to save face. Seems to be the pattern if you see there is a good always following a bad review . The only people that excel here are the ones that kiss up to the owner, who is unfair and only talks a select few. High school all over again with mean girl managers who thrive on control. Do not be fooled by this!

Pros
Well I guess to be fair, I'll mention the "Free Monday lunch" like every other positive review on here. Sad that is the only thing can really think of. It is a growing company, but the employees do not benefit from that, so not really a pro for anyone reading this.
Cons
The amount of back and forth/conflicting reviews for Tasty Brands on Glassdoor should be a major RED FLAG for anyone who does their due diligence and checks reviews prior to joining an organization. Unfortunately for me, the company was so small when I joined that I wasn’t given a heads up of the chaotic, hostile environment I was walking into. Employees of the past have learned their lesson, moved on and find it very interesting/suspicious when a positive review pops up right after a negative review. It usually comes from whoever runs HR at the time. The purpose of Glassdoor is to give honest reviews so people making an important, life changing decision to start a new job can have additional insights into the company instead of just what they learned, which are mostly likely the positive aspects during the interview process. So here you go, THE FACTS: 1. Every negative comment about the owner of the company here is 100% true. I’ve worked at a few companies of this size on Long Island in my career and NEVER have worked for someone like this owner. The amount of professional, competent, hardworking people I’ve seen him berate and literally make cry is unbelievable! Yes, it’s understood that not every employee is great with outstanding work ethics, but NO one deserves to be treated the way I’ve seen him treat people. Those with excellent work ethics and slackers alike, all fall into the same bin in his eyes, the disposable bin. If you go into this job after reading these reviews and say, “I can handle a tyrant, I have thick skin”, just don’t. If you do, I guarantee you there will be a time you think back and will say “wow, all those passionate reviews on Glassdoor, I should have listened to them!” 2. Benefits… everyone talks about Monday lunch. A $10-15 dollar lunch weekly is nice little perk but is Monday lunch worth having only 13 DAYS PTO a year (which includes PTO, Vacation and sick time, no ifs, ands or buts!) There are minimal Holidays as well, so don’t think you will make up for it there. 401k has a company match but nothing extraordinary- like 3% and fluctuates based on owners’ mood. 3. Hours of 8:30-5 with an hour lunch break you will be told. Sounds good…. But I tell you if you leave anywhere close to 5PM, don’t show up early and/or take your full lunch break you will be one of his next victims as you clearly “don’t have enough work to do”. I fully understand that as salaried employees, there are times the workload requires you to come in early and/or stay late. Your title does change as does your demands. But I will tell you, there was one time this one person took lunch…. They were a director of a department, came in early every day, left late every day, and worked through lunch every day. One day they physically went out to lunch. The owner came out of his office looking for this person, someone reluctantly told him they stepped out. His entire face went red, and it was like a cartoon where you could see steam coming out of his ears. Maybe you are thinking, oh well there must be a reason it must have been something super urgent… nope. Just regular day to day. At 5 o’clock every day, the entire office sits there waiting to see who will take the heat and get up from their desk and be the first to go home, NO ONE wants to be the first to leave or you'll be next on his list. 4. The turnover I experienced in my years there was absolutely insane, comical really. Averaging at least one person a month - which is a lot considering the size of the office. Its' not the people who "don't work hard" that leave. It's everyone. Your efforts will not be rewarded as many of the fake positive reviews state. Everyone is disposable. So, as I said earlier, the amount of conflicting and passionate reviews posted for such a small place should be a MAJOR RED FLAG for anyone! I will be patiently waiting to next positive post from human resources! Oh yes, don't forget... ONLY 13 DAYS PTO!

Pros
Nada Zero and a big fat ZIP!
Cons
Where shall I begin? High school environment with mean girls and all and even that is being generous. These people can't "direct or manage" their way out of a paper bag much less a dept & 1 of them I think is a mute you're lucky if she says 2 words to you in an entire month. It's laughable. There's blatant favoritism & the boss is the leader of that pact.
