Good place to start out and then move on or coast if you don’t have high ambition.

      Pros

More parental leave and vacation just added for newer employees.

      Cons

Pay was pretty bad initially but they are getting better especially with newer engineers. Stop cutting corners by turning off charge numbers as early as possible.

      What a joke

7 Jan 2023 - (Senior Leader) in Hunt Valley, MD
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

It was a job but it wasn't going to help me in my career

      Cons

What a joke of a company! Will lie to customers to get orders with no intention of fulfilling them under the terms of the order. Places "ability to read people" above setting strategy and tactics to fulfill a vision. My leader was more willing to listen to the rumor mill than data and facts, and when presented with data would say she couldn't believe her friends would like to her since she knew them for 34 years. She had no vision, no strategy, no goals.... as an executive she wouldnt have made it at a real defense company. Her only success was being tight with the boys network, all of which was disfunctional.

      Innovative and Challenging Work

17 Feb 2023 - Software Engineer in Hunt Valley, MD
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Being able to participate in the full software development life-cycle, all the way from requirements to deployment/maintenance. Also, the products you'll support here will be really cool. Products such as drones, autonomous and manned vehicles, boats, etc. Folks here are really nice and will treat you as an integral member of the team and give you lots of responsibility, even if you are less experienced.

      Cons

There could be more remote/hybrid flexibility.

Excellent place to start your career and leverage into a good job somewhere else

14 Dec 2022 - Electrical Engineer in Hunt Valley, MD
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Excellent development opportunities for early career engineers. You get handed a lot of responsibilities off the bat which a senior engineer should really be taking care of - Reasonably good day-to-day environment. Mind your own business and most of the time people won't bother you (with some exceptions)

      Cons

      - Almost everyone there is either in their early-mid 20s or their 50s. They have a turnover rate that makes most defense companies blush - losing about 3-4% of the engineers in that division per month (not year!) - They have a questionable idea of what the role of Level 1-2 engineers are, and will dump excess responsibilities on and rate employees poorly for not acting like a successful senior engineer while dumping senior responsibilities on them - Pay is about 10-20% lower than most defense contracters (NGC, Raytheon, etc.) and the benefits aren't competitive (high-deductible insurance plan was the only choice when I was there, 401k was mediocre, not much else)

      Pros

Very few. Due to their desperation to hire the pay is outstanding but that's about it.

      Cons

Horrible working conditions - windowless dungeon in the basement, abandoned facilities, decades of layoff history, hard-nosed HR, limited niche technology, unfriendly unsupportive management, no appreciation for hard work, little competency in their core technologies due to layoffs, a very bad place to work ultimately.

      Pros

Overall great place start your career after college. You can gain a lot of valuable skills. Textron Systems also makes it easy to pivot and try new roles within your department

      Cons

Pay!! Workers are not paid industry standard and a lot of new recruits end up leaving after 2 years. Also the company is reluctant to invest in new technologies

It has more pros than cons

      19 Oct 2022 - Finance
      Recommend

      Business Outlook

      Pros

This company really does value their employees and actively promotes a work life balance compared to other places where work/life are just words to make them sound better. Most of the people I've met and worked with have been great people. You do need to stick it out for a few years before you can start moving up and around within the company because they tend to hire a lot of "new to the workforce" employees in order to give them experience, which is great. but they tend to leave because they can get higher paying jobs elsewhere. It just like most companies in regards to management, some are good and some are bad. The benefits are on point for a government contractor.

      Cons

The pay and raises could be a lot better. The mandatory 4/10 hour every other week sucks. There really aren't many opportunities to move to other positions within the company, so you are fairly limited to just "steps" up in title. Nothing ever changes. No opportunity for telework. No opportunity to move up from a hands on employee to management.
