    Pros

You have the opportunity to put your hands in everything. You'll value and research every kind of product type and will have the opportunity to meet people in all fields. Can't be beat as a first job in real estate.

    Cons

You're going to work harder than you ever have in your life, but what you put in is what you'll get out.
Salary may have changed, but what tough to swallow when I started. Will set you up to succeed down the road.

    Advice to Management

    Thanks for everything!

I worked at The Concord Group full-time

    Pros

Great exposure to real estate market and good jumping off point for anyone interested in real estate.

    Cons

Typical to consulting, there are constant deadlines and you will need to be exceptionally great at time management and balancing work/life balance.

    Advice to Management

More client interaction is always great for employee growth and retention.

I have been working at The Concord Group full-time

    Pros

    - TCG is an amazing place to grow and learn, especially at the entry level. The level of responsibility you're entrusted with is huge.
    - The company is comprised of young, intelligent and very motivated people. The culture is performance-driven while still being friendly and supportive. The workplace dress code is casual. Additionally, being a small company where everyone is highly trusted, there is no bureaucracy or red tape, and office politics are frowned upon.
    - Your work is impactful. There is no such thing as busy work at TCG.
    - You can be proud of your work at TCG. We produce quality, thoughtfully executed work.
    - You play a part in driving your growth in terms of what you want to take on, where you travel to, what types of projects your work on, etc.
    - TCG is actively working to make to offices more unified/share in the workload
    - Nice environment - good location close to transit, sunny and spacious, private desks (no shared tables like at tech startups!), gender-neutral bathrooms, great snacks, birthday celebrations, TV where we can watch major events like the election, positive and supportive teammates

    Cons

TCG isn't a start-up, but being a small company where everyone wears many hats and works incredibly hard can make it feel like one. Also, at the end of the day, consulting is demanding. This means work/life balance can be very poor at times. Also, there are fewer of the perks found at bigger/newer/tech companies.

Conclusion - Demanding but rewarding first job!

    Advice to Management

Invest in newer technology tomorrow, not in a month or a year; should be priority number one. Also, perks help: 401k matching would be nice and reduced gym membership would signal that work/life balance is important.

I have been working at The Concord Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - The work environment is fast-paced and challenging, which allows you to learn a lot very quickly.
    - There is lots of face time with principals, who care and want to get to know you.
    - Principals don't micromanage. There's is lots of freedom and flexibility.
    - I liked the mentorship/ training program that helped orient me in the beginning.
    - The hours are cyclical, so everyone tends to be busy at the same time. If the project is due, everyone staffed on the project stays until it's done -- you're never working alone. You definitely feel close with your coworkers after spending so much time with them.
    - Awesome location in Newport Beach, right next to Fashion Island
    - Office social events organized frequently

    Cons

    - Doesn't match 401k
    - Hours can climb as you learn more and take on more responsibility. Promotions don't always follow as quickly, although there is a standard growth path at the company.
    - Starting salary for entry-level analyst is livable but not very competitive.

    Pros

Lots of exposure to Principals, who are all tremendously knowledgeable. Experience with all product types and various aspects of deals.

    Cons

Do not match 401k. Profit sharing is available but takes 5 years to vest. Otherwise employee benefits are pretty solid.

    Advice to Management

Matching 401k would be great, especially given lower starting salary.

I have been working at The Concord Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Being a small company, you feel like a part of the family when you work here. Upper management treats employees with respect and allows flexibility in our schedules. Location can't be beat - close to the ocean in Newport Beach. Fun events are organized on a quarterly basis, the kitchen is full of snacks and sodas, and everyone gets a birthday party. Overall, a nice place to work.

    Cons

Due to the small size, there is no real place for advancement.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at The Concord Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Extremely interesting job with wide range of product and client types, which prevents staleness and provides an environment that promotes a great deal of learning and creative thinking
    - Constant opportunity to interact with principles with tons of experience who are highly regarded in real estate industry
    - Interaction with clients, both on development and capital side of deals, provides valuable insight to industry and sharpens skill sets that can be used in future professional careers
    - Great work environment promoting collaboration and teamwork; younger employee base with numerous team-building activities that take place each quarter
    - Good bonuses, typically 20-30% of base salary each quarter
    - Ideal location in Newport Beach, less than one mile from ocean

    Cons

    - Nature of consulting leads to constant deadlines that must be managed (usually multiple at a time); can lead to long hours some weeks (40 hours is base, but can climb to 60-80 hours in busy weeks)
    - Pay not as competitive as some other companies that attract similar employees

    Advice to Management

    - Employee retention has been good lately but more frequent salary increases could lead to better long-term retention

I have been working at The Concord Group part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible scheduling, lots of autonomy, comfortable office space, free parking, able to take decent lunch breaks, coworkers are all pretty nice.

    Cons

Not much feedback on how you're doing on the job, not much of a close community feeling, can be almost too quiet and stale in the office
