Best Job Ever
31 Aug 2021 - Area Director and Community ConnectorRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
After being in the workforce for 40 years, I finally can utilize all of my ambition and work ethic to benefit my very own business, family and community through my work as a difference maker, community connector and publisher of three very high quality private neighborhood publications. Our neighbors love us; our business sponsors love us; and our company has fostered a culture of family so I am surrounded by brothers and sisters across the country who truly care about our success in the market, as well as our personal successes.
Cons
It's hard work but I work when I'm working and I'm OFF when I'm OFF. I have scheduled SIX (6) weeks of vacation this year and am dedicated to a work plan commensurate with my 2021 goals. There really is no "CON" if you stick to the plan.

Pros
You can work from home and create your own schedule.
Cons
Wow where do I begin. They tell you that you will be making at least 5k a month with "hard work" and if you "follow the program" all will be dandy. Unfortunately the program is a joke and I am glad I figured them out before I went bankrupt. You have to make at least 200 cold calls a week to set up appointments. The only catch is that there are at least 10 other people calling in your same area. You WILL cross paths with other Area Directors and it is sinful. Businesses find this ugly and unprofessional and some people I have called even rehashed the stupid pitch; "wouldn't you like to be a part of our magazine we have pictures of dogs and kids!" Lastly when you do meet face to face with prospective businesses they laugh at the 3 year contract. Most print advertisers will allow 3-12 month contracts. A 12 month contract is our VERY MINIMUM. This is a tough sell and most prospective clients will laugh at you. The training was horrible and you had to fly to Chicago on your own dime to attend it. The training was worthless and they should have mailed me the cheap training manual and I would have saved over 1k. I should have known better....All of the big shots were from CUTCO. CUTCO was the biggest scam company, and they were shut down by the Federal Government. BEWARE!

Like all good things... It requires dedication and hard work. But if you frame it in the right perspective, hard work can be fun work. It's a mindset.

Pros
Positive, supportive and caring culture and team environment atmosphere to work in. Flexible schedule, Minimal travel (but a few fun trips are involved) Work from home, build my own business and fill my own pockets with unlimited earning potential... no caps!
Cons
This is not for everyone, it requires hard work, discipline, and continually being a student of the business. In return this career offers BIG rewards (did I say unlimited earning potential) for those wiling to hunker down and do the work. First year or two are intense, after that, for those who follow the program laid out by those who successfully run this business, the dream is realized and pretty amazing! Must make the time to really understand the business as if I fail that is because of me and no one else can take the blame for that.

Supportive Company
28 Aug 2014 - Area Director in Minneapolis, MNRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Income opportunity, Flexibility Leadership, Morally driven I have thoroughly enjoyed working for N2. I didn’t have a background in publishing at all. Nonetheless, the leaders at N2 have really helped me succeed. First as an Area Director, then Region Coordinator, Executive Sales Director, etc. I have also been able to work my way up to and sustain an income level that allows me to provide for my family which allows my spouse the flexibility to not work and provide extra care for our special needs son. I never thought that would ever be possible and isn’t with most jobs out there. The company is morally driven, supportive, and consistently leads by example which is refreshing based on how other companies operate.
Cons
Not for those who are looking to make a quick buck, Requires hard work, dedication, and follow through

Pros
Having worked in Corporate America for 30ish years I find N2 a breath of fresh air for those who want to build something of their own. The challenges and potential rewards are the same for any business, however you are the business owner so it is your battle to win. N2 is not for everyone but if you have the desire to run your own race, do something very fulfilling, rewarding and control your own destiny it is an adventure! Pros : Leadership. They give you all the tools you need to be successful. We have a proven process and vision for the future. Very fun to be a part of.
Cons
It's hard work, but show me a successful business owner who says it wasn't worth the effort.

Opportunity Knocked and I Answered - Happy AD
11 Apr 2016 - Area Director in Las Cruces, NMRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I've been aboard for two years now. For me, it's been an amazing opportunity. It's still W-O-R-K, not P-L-A-Y... but, in this case, if you work hard and apply the program they've created, I've personally only seen RESULTS. If it were easy, everyone would be doing it... but, if you want to get the big benefit, you've got to do the leg-work. I love having control of my destiny. I love being able to make my own schedule. I love feeling like the company is invested in the success of their team (which is how I feel).
Cons
Is it a con that it requires hard work to be successful? I wish there were an easier way to make the big money! But... it comes down to applying yourself, regularly, and yes - some hours/days and weeks, I am not motivated, or feeling "on"... during those times, I re-direct my energy to tasks that still benefit my business, but maybe aren't the priority for the bottom line. You have to find your own balance within the program -- and balance against your own personal goals and what it will take to meet those goals. It's all up to you. So, the con is, they don't hand you anything - you have to EARN IT. For those who have listed the Christianity of the leadership as a con, allow me to say that my family and I do not attend church or follow any organized religion (I'd call us "secular") - but this has not come up in any form for me with N2. While they offer Christian led-optional conference calls and sessions at our conferences, they do not seem to discriminate in any ways I've seen, toward those who choose not to be involved. However, if you are uncomfortable with a Christian atmosphere, it can be a little weird. Having grown up Catholic and having attended mostly religious-based private schools in my youth, I'm used to it - but I can see how it would be a turn-off to many. Sometimes you get someone in a territory who is not much of a team-player. Cooperation among local Area Directors / team members is essential to the happiness and success of the regional team. N2 seems to work very hard to on-board people who say they want to operate independently and also cooperatively, but folks slip through. Learn as much as you can about the local team you'll be joining before selecting a specific territory - it may save some heart-ache if you find you don't jive with an existing team member. Working TOGETHER = better results for everyone.

Pros
N2 offers an opportunity to earn high levels of income quickly with the flexibility of the ability to create a great work/life balance. The ongoing training and support is ever present and there is a real desire for their Area Directors to succeed in their goals.
Cons
Getting the publication off the ground takes hard work however once in print, consistent activity, to a lesser degree, will sustain it for a long time.

I began as an AE, worked to become an Area Director, promoted to Development Director, now Market Director all in less than 18 months. Pros: Flexible schedule, explosive growth, niche market, untapped advertising categories and advertisers, strong support at all levels, and leadership team is responsive.
Cons
It takes hard work and the position will force you out of your comfort zone.
