You'll want to quit after 3 months...
13 Jan 2017 - Consultant in Cambridge, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
All the Consultants and Research Analysts at RI are great (basically anyone under the age of 30 is wonderful to work with - there is often unity in misery...)
Cons
Staying objective, the work is incredibly repetitive and mind numbing... everyone basically makes the same 15-20 slides over and over again all day every day... there is very little room for personal interpretation, especially with Senior Management urging you to follow their own vision (which is ultimately always in line with a sales pitch and not necessarily always the data)... I was very disappointed with my time at RI, they preach a mantra of being international and a fast growing company but its just not true. The employees who are actually producing reports are miserable with low salaries and little appreciation/ recognition. Do yourselves a favor and just stay away. I promise, within 2-3 months of working at RI you'll realize its all just smoke and mirrors when it comes to work quality, career development and the RI product. Its not a coincidence a handful of people resigned and moved on within the last 6-months.

Pros
the reptrak model, the clients we work for and the stated mission of the company, unfortunately all pros end there
Cons
Senior management is packed with people who don't live by the company's values. We are supposed to sell the idea that companies who behave ethically win when our own managers are breaking the rules. The environment is very political and gossipy and there is a tendency for people to create cliques and spend more energy on internal office politics than on pushing the business forward. Your work and your skills don't matter that much at reptrak Recently there has been a wave of sackings that is not communicated internally in any way. This wouldn't be a major issue, but in the past all departures where communicated each month and the leadership has bragged about how transparent they are. That doesn't seem to be the case any more
Continue readingFirst and foremost, your feedback is appreciated, I am glad you agree with our stated purpose/mission of the company to prove that doing and saying the right thing is good business. I am also glad that you, like our employees at large, are positive about the RepTrak model, it is on all accounts a wonderful way for our client companies to measure their reputation objectively and take action against it. Thank you also for acknowledging our clients, they are an inspiration every day and we are honored to work with them. Thanks for pointing out areas of improvement, I do take them seriously and spend many hours per week seeking feedback (positive and constructive) on our culture. This includes an interview with every new employee after 3 months at the company to ask if we are being true to their expectations and what they like and don't like about the company, small group conversations, 360 reviews of management, 1-1 conversations and on multiple occasions hosting people at my house for informal gatherings (when possible). Regarding the company's values of; honest, pioneering, brave, committed and rigorous, I am confident senior management is working hard to represent these traits and am disappointed that this wasn't your experience. We will continue to educate on these values which are included in every performance review to make sure we speak about them and pressure test our ability to openly discuss them regularly. The topic of ethics is a big one and an important one for any company. We are proud of our own company's RepTrak scores on this topic. Each year we apply the RepTrak reputation scorecard on our company and scrutinize it carefully. In 2019, the factor of "behaves ethically" was one of our strongest scores and in the "strong/robust" range alongside our other top 5 scores. This is an area of priority (as it should be). Naturally I am concerned to hear any comment of this kind and will review thoroughly our reporting procedures for any employee that wants to confidentially share reservations about the way the company is run. I do know that new employees are specifically trained during on-boarding about reporting any issues in a completely safe and empathetic interaction. Finally, you are right that we are proud of our transparency including sharing financial information, plans for the future around how we are structured and financed and movements in personnel. I am committed to honoring contributions of employees that are both at the company and have departed and thank you for your feedback. Best, Kylie

Interesting work but embarrassingly low salaries
14 Mar 2019 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
There are some great benefits to working at reputation institute: fun culture, a lot of PTO, high-growth environment and stimulating work. There is great support and collaboration across different teams. Always something new to explore.
Cons
There is so much disorganization. Lack of transparency. Huge disconnect between senior management and the masses. No one has any clue about their future here. Titles are totally random and inequitable. Employees have to fight tooth and nail to be fairly compensated. A company that values its employees will recognize they deserve a raise/promotion before they need to ask.

Only promises and promises

Interesting industry. Top companies as clients.
Cons
Too many dishonest people in senior management. All looks good at start however it quickly becomes obvious that the company is a mess. There is a lack of direction and management sends conflicting messages in regards to the future of the company. One day we are becoming a "data-driven" tech company, the other day we remain a consulting company. Working with the tech team has always been a nightmare, they can't deliver work on time and they can't build all the features that were agreed upon. Since the new CTO came on board things are getting worse as he's pushing back against requests from the other departments which only result in more work for the non-tech employees and that is clearly unfair. People are working long hours and are paid low salaries for their roles.

Thanks for the feedback! I always want to hear if we are misaligned — definitely not our intent. Since two of our values are brave and honest, I’m particularly glad to open the conversation about what is not working. This is why I meet with every new employee to ask what we can do better, ask for questions at the town hall every month, have an app which is anonymous to ask any tricky questions and encourage any employee to call my cell phone if they have concerns. Please feel free to do so! Regarding who we are and want to be, we are indeed a data and insights company. We just completed a global survey of our clients and our data is their favorite thing! This is followed closely by the workshops with our wonderful client services team. You are right implying that we are transforming the way we do business to be digital in our delivery and tech-enabled in our business model. The type of transformation we are doing is never a smooth path and I am signed up for all the twists and turns! I know the tech team is too. I am very proud of their work and our new leader, Mark, has already made significant impact in prioritizing and streamlining during his first 3 months. I stopped by the tech team just 2 weeks ago to ask how things were going and got glowing feedback so naturally I am pensive about not meeting your specific needs. Please feel free to stop by and chat about our 3 year plan and let’s work out how we can get better together. I can assure you the management team is willing to do what it takes to continue the great culture we have been enjoying and delight our clients. Kylie

Thinking of working here? DON'T
3 Feb 2016 - Anonymous Employee in Cambridge, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The young staffers who are my peers are great, fun, helpful and very much part of an us against the management types team.
Cons
Poor pay, not great benefits and no concern for employees. They switched health insurance providers and gave everyone about a day's notice and were baffled why people were upset. The senior management spends lots of money on leadership retreats for themselves but won't so much as pay for a group lunch. Unless you are really desperate for a job don't consider working here, you'll regret it, I certainly have.
