I worked at The Siegfried Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The Siegfried group is great for someone who wants to get an "Accounting and Finance Residency." Before I went to Siegfried I had 6 years of public accounting in real estate and 1 year of private equity real estate. I was hired by Siegfried and immediately put on an M&A engagement. I broadened my experience with debt offerings, treasury, corporate accounting and external reporting. My wife family unfotunately decided...

    Cons

It is very entrepreneurial, I think it is a positive, but it really puts you out of your comfort zone and forces you to be perform at all times in front of a client. If you are not ready for the challenge and have come from being minimally challenged it will be an adjustment. Change happens a lot with smaller entrepreneurial firms, but that can be a positive too as you can be involved in business development, recruiting...

    Pros

Some of the best and brightest people I know worked for TSG.

    Cons

Executive management seems to have lost their way.

    Advice to Management

Tone down the bravado and the wine drinking.

I have been working at The Siegfried Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

You get a great deal of appreciation and attention from management. (Management puts a lot of care into who they hire, the opportunities that they present folks to, and what is in the best interest of the employee.) Exposure to the large Fortune 1000 companies (across industries as well). The incentives are exceptional. The incentives do reward everyone for going above and beyond. Its a great place to learn and...

I worked at The Siegfried Group

    Pros

Money but this is only assuming you got in at the right time when the economy was good and starting salary was higher. It also assumes you are willing to travel to make travel bonuses.

    Cons

Most assignments are not challenging and you slowly lose skills. You fill in for client needs during their busy times and a lot of the work is busy work. But There are exceptions I'm sure. You have to be willing to travel anywhere in the country for however long they need you. . . If you refuse, you will be fired sooner or later. Don't give any honest feedback (even though they ask for it) because it will...

    Advice to Management

Correct the above cons. As you can see, most of the reviews have all the same cons. Instead of contacting the website to pull the reviews down as was done or else (as was done on the former 'Job Vent' site), turn around how the company operates. There is certainly a need for this type of business, just not it's management style. You do not want honest reviews from employees so these sites are the only way you can learn....

I worked at The Siegfried Group

    Pros

Before all the noise and ridiculous management decisions, the company was a decent place to gain experience and network for future opportunities. The compensation and incentive plans were fair and at times 'generous', according to any special in-demand project needs. What primarily made The Siegfried Group a good place to work are the people, specifically the accounting resources/consultants. Many were high performers...

    Cons

Through the years, The Siegfried Group has developed a bad reputation by mistreating the very core of their business, the people (resources/consultants). Executive and Upper management are known to make irrational decisions, especially with regard to appointing people to key positions that drive the company. Nepotism and favoritism are all very much evident once you walk through the door. Further, all the key decision-making...

    Advice to Management

Please... please... please stop the favoritism within the company. It's understandable to keep 'pets', but assigning them to key positions which govern the well being of the company and the financial situations of its people are not acceptable. Also, it's time to decentralize the leadership and decision-making authority; not every region responds and acts like Delaware.
