      Cons

Its a custom software consultancy firm , so you may not find all projects exciting. But again the percentage of good projects is high.

      Great place to learn

      Pros

Brilliant colleagues. Opportunity to learn. Support for personal/hobby projects. Flat organizational structure. Every person in the office is accessible for anyone. Variety of projects. Benefits. Cares about employees. Work life balance. Unlimited sick leaves.

      Cons

Culture is slowly changing. Piller2(software excellency) is losing its strength and seems like nobody cares. All the learning sessions and geeknights have been stopped. Feels like ThoughtWorks is converting to just another consultancy.

Bleak future - specially for senior folks

      Pros

I have been working as a full-time developer for nearly 4 years now. Any company will change during that long a time and ThoughtWorks India has changed as well. First of, its a great place for a fresher or less experienced (less than 4 years) folks hands-down. Lots to learn and lots to gain towards a greater career. We have changed organizationally in terms of global structure as well as the India organizational structure and this shift in leadership almost every year does bring with it the question of - who's vision are we driving towards? If its a collective vision, then, in my opinion, its not a long-term vision. In terms of development work, the projects that I see around are fairly good in terms of tech-stack as well as in terms of different domains. But most of them are majority maintenance-like and very few new projects are coming on board, which means not a lot of new technical and business challenges. This directly affects the growth of every technical and non-technical employee. Stagnation is not far away, ever.

      Cons

From my point of view, lots of good people have left already or are planning to leave in the near future. I am not surprised by it - the lack of challenging work and work environment is a limiting factor and everyone wants to grow - not just financially but also in their role through being faced with new challenges. Leadership is almost silent, if not absent. There are interactions but only far and few and changing leadership styles/structures adds to this confusion even more. At the end of the day, the company is becoming similar to any other Indian IT consultancy firm (TCS, Infosys, Wipro...) and the differentiating factor is slowly becoming a blur because such differentiation is reflected in an organization's culture and not just in the hourly billing rate that they charge.

      Good company

Nov 30, 2020 - Senior Consultant in Madrid

      Pros

Advocates of good development practices and agile practices for software delivery. As a consultancy company, you have the chance to get experience in different types of projects with different domains. Great company to start your career and increase very quick your development skills and your knowledge about software delivery and influence. Management tried their best to care of the employees even in difficult times. The company promotes feedback and inclusivity.

      Cons

It's still a consultancy company, which means having the skills to influence the clients to use all these best practices for development and delivery. In some cases, the company still uses a body shopping model. It's not common, but it's there.

Thank you for your review. ThoughtWorks has always been a consultancy; some technologists love to work in a consulting environment--traveling to clients and working with different people and technologies. However, it's not for everyone. We try to showcase consultant life prior to ThoughtWorkers' joining, especially during the hiring process, to ensure that it's a fit. We're glad however that you enjoy the culture and people and find it to be an environment where you can grow your career. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts and for being part of ThoughtWorks!

      Pros

Great culture and learning opportunities. Always feel supported and driven to improve.

      Cons

Not the most competitive salaries, especially given the type of work we do. As it's a consultancy, projects vary a lot and you often don't have a say in which project you go to.
