      None that i think off

One of a kind place becoming a shell of its former self

      Pros

      * Interesting peers who keep the bar high(atleast some are still here) * Also some of them are real geeks(read dotfile pros, terminal editor enthusiasts, mechanical keyboard fans etc.) and their company, discussion and passion is truly not easy to find. * Good software engineering focus. With some very experienced experts, there's always the discussion on better software engineering practices and staying updated with current trends * Potentially interesting hats to take on besides development. One could be a trainer, takeup tech assessments and so on * Decent pay and hikes

      Cons

Possibly now(2021) is not a great time to be in Thoughtworks due to potential changes around its ownership which has brought about a lot of changes around * Decreased work life balance * Shift in power dynamic favoring managers more * Age old tenured Thoughtworker privilege. * At this time, to grow in TW you need to either be a loudmouth / tenured TWer / extreme hard worker * Unbalanced incentives for people who stay in a single project for a longer duration * No correction applied w.r.t losing principles / culture * Used to be a place where people were generally very kind / empathetic, now it's mostly unnecessarily cut-throat / egocentric / political (and there's no checks in place) * Newly introduced performance review system is really backward(losing flexibility in the name of structure)

You've covered a lot of aspects that make Thoughtworks a great place for technologists. In fact we're really proud of our recently established learning and development programs, that help everyone hone their skills and grow in their areas of interest. We have exciting times ahead of us as we grow and we will always strive hard to retain our culture and values - we hold them very dearly. I'm sorry you didn't have a more positive experience working here, but we appreciate the honest feedback. Regarding your feedback on advice to management, we may not always get it right, but we’re committed to constantly building capabilities within our teams. It is still a good company to work for. Slowly losing its core culture.

      Pros

      - Open, diverse and inclusive culture. Diversity and inclusivity is not just on papers, but Thoughtworkers breathe and practice it. - You can literally ask anybody for help and they will be happy to guide you - Lots of opportunities to learn new things and grow. No one will stop you from learning things out of interest as long as you can manage project work well - Regular and decent hikes every year - People are driven by fun, and there are many fun activities which are organised regularly - Good work life balance

      Cons

      - Salary is not the best. Though they give regular hikes (based on performance) it is still does not match up to the market standards - Due to growing number of new people, it is hard to keep the culture intact. Remote working has added to the worries - Some of the projects are not very interesting and may not align with your expectations. You may have to still choose to work in them because of billing

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      1. No hierarchy(It has a flat hierarchy) - you won't be reporting to someone 2. Employee centric (Employees are not considered as resource) 3. People are friendly and intelligent over here 4. believes in pair programming that leads to faster work 5. You can change roles based on your interest(dev->qa, qa->dev , dev->BA, etc) 6. Appraisals are not based on your performance, its based on how you have grown in thoughtWorks, what are your learnings. 7. Proper Work life balance(sometime is an exceptional happens in all companies). Some teams follow ice-cream meter, when employees in a team don't join that call ice cream meter will be triggered under his name and the person with most number of ice-cream meter will have to treat the entire team(this is to ensure each employee to have proper work life balance ) 8. Free snacks, macbook pro 16.

      Cons

      1. They provide some amount in sodexo card from your ctc this obviously saves tax, but there are some amount which can be found hard to reimburse(some wallet amount is carry forwarded to next year some can be reimbursed and can come to your payroll when financial year ends).

One gets to choose from a set of available projects based on one's interests. Great coding practices. The code pairing is a great way for knowledge transfer. Hiring is purely based on skill set. Great behaviour towards employees. It's

      Pros

You design your own career path and TWs provides ample opportunities to craft it and more importantly execute the path. Life here is more community driven, signups (not pushed to you) and you get lot of support (more than you anticipate) when you ask at the right forum. You get critical questions at the right point to help and define your journey.

      Cons

Personally, I see Work-life balance a concern especially after the covid pandemic. Otherwise, there isn't anything

      Pros

      1. Opportunity to work with a lot of very capable folks in all spheres of work. 2. True agile way of working 3. Each employee and their opinions are respected. There is a culture of mutual respect and inclusion here, the kind of which I have not seen in the previous 8 years of my experience. 4. There are ample opportunities to learn almost anything w.r.t. technology for those who are interested. 5. The work life balance of employees are given importance. 6. Very good office premise - cafeteria, games, events etc. (though in these corona times, we are WFH) 7. There is ample career opportunities. Focus on employee growth.

      Cons

Nothing to note as of now

An organisation that empowers employees and provides right opportunities + challenges to grow

30 Aug 2020 - Principal Consultant in Coimbatore
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Over the years, ThoughtWorks has grown on me so much that I will find it hard to replace. ThoughtWorks is run with some really good principles and values that are considered core. Trust is the foundation of employee engagement. Company trusts employees would do the right thing and they don't impose any restrictions and they don't monitor any employee activities - other than guiding on moral, legal and ethical aspects. I value the freedom to express my opinion and shape up my career over a period of time. Likewise, everyone is empowered to shape up the organisation in our own small ways. It does not matter if it is the voice of a fresh college graduate or someone with 20 years of experience - it is the merit of the opinion that counts. The nature of work is challenging me technically and my colleagues are very talented. So, I have never felt that I am in a comfort zone despite 1.5 decades of working here. ThoughtWorks is a very people friendly organisation. Work-life balance is actively encouraged. It is also one of the best places to work for woman employees.

      Cons

ThoughtWorks is relatively a flat organisation with a very collaborative way of functioning. People are encouraged to be open, open to change, open to provide and receive feedback. People who are not used to the open culture will find it difficult or will take long time to adopt in ThoughtWorks. Given the highly collaborative nature of the work with maximum visibility to entire team, slackers will find it impossible to hide.
