I worked at Trafigura full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Speed and time matter to the bosses at Trafigura and if at any point you look like you are losing your edge the door will be shown to you. It is like one of those fast-paced investment banking or trading firms which are shown in US TV shows, but the work is very dull and repetitive. The stakes are high as the value of the goods is very high. You get a very good exposure to global trade and international business.

    Cons

The career progression options are extremely limited and this leads to a bit of favoritism in the promotions. This leads to stress in the teams and hence the attrition is pretty high. Better than a KPO, but not as good as a front office trading desk.

I worked at Trafigura full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Exciting and rewarding work - if you're cut out for it - Opportunity to work and interact with stakeholders from across the globe - One can move desks to handle different products and different regions as you get experienced - Company provides transport, so travelling to work isn't as painful as it is generally in Mumbai - Managers are really helpful and provide guidance to resolve any pressing issues - The compensation is good along with a rewarding bonus structure. If you do well, you are recognized and compensated for it. - Benefits (insurance etc.) that are provided are really good and office facilities are world class. - One can eventually move to internationally after getting this experience as this industry and these roles have a huge scope in the Middle East. - There are really good quarterly and yearly parties! - It's a large organization and all the pros that come with it.

    Cons

    - Work can get stressful and overwhelming as operations are live round the clock - Work life balance can go for a toss depending on volume of work - Hours can get extended at time depending on what region you are handling
