I worked at TresVista full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Team outings every month, amenities to "try" and balance work-life, compensation is satisfactory for a fresher, steep learning (which can peak very early into the job)

    Cons

Employees in the firm are not treated well when it comes to work-life balance and work pressure. You are put under intense deadlines comprising of insane amounts of work. Along with that, if you're the junior most employee in the firm, you have to take crap from everyone and you're not given ample chance to speak for yourself. Some people are rude and lack EQ. This place is not for everyone, know what you're getting yourself into. Everyone seems nice in the beginning but time reveals their true faces. If you're hell bent on making it in this place then you'll tolerate everything that comes your way, otherwise your frustration will eventually reach a point where you become insensitive and toxic and you start doubting everyone even if they're being nice to you. Since all your work is client dependent, your satisfaction in the firm relies on the quantity and quality of work given by the client.

I worked at TresVista full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Your experience with the firm is a function of client you have been assigned and your team. Broadly there are three divisions in the Finance department 1) IB (Deal/Pitches heavy) 2) PE (Market research heavy) 3) AM (Equity research heavy) Even within the division some client consider you a team member and send high quality work and some consider you the back office guy and send work accordingly. Often it's the AM clients that send high quality work, but you also got quality clients in PE and IB. Long hours and 7 day work weeks were a lot more common a year ago than in recent times (firm has been hiring a lot) Good pay, easy to move up the ladder if you are good at what you do. Complete ownership of client work and direct communication with the client (Throughout the day for a few IB clients). Associates present for QC and any help, 90% of execution done by analyst. (Few analyst know a lot more finance than most associates)

    Cons

Allocation of your first client is quite random. People with high calibre can end up doing mediocre work. Some teams indulge in petty politics, try to get out of them, if you end up in one. Lot of new clients send very low quality work. Try to switch teams or firm if you end up just copy pasting all day.
