Great benefits. Insurance and retirement was above market. Pay was only average.

Great benefits, flexible schedule, not micro managed. Some of the people are great to work with, and you're free to pursue projects.

Lower pay than most companies for similar jobs, no direction from managers unless it's crunch time, hesitant to spend any money to improve equipment--very old school way of business. If you're not a manager, it's extremely difficult to move or grow within the company. The culture is also very high-schoolish with gossip abound, along with very high turn-over. No standard training offered to new employees, except for do-it-yourself e-learning. You're expected to go learn everything on your own with no direction of what is needed. Overall, very unorganized.

Pros

It was a great company to work for in the beginning, great benefits, salary and work/ life balance. Also a great learning experience as there was a ton of acquisitions and mergers that grew the company.

Cons

Before Tyco became Johnson Controls they kept shrinking through spin offs but the employees were never explicitly told that they were gearing up to be bought out so the in the last years the atmosphere changed and it was not a pleasant place to work.

Company has great benefits and 401k match. The people I worked with were really friendly and helpful. Lots of opportunity for online training.

Management does not have your back for anything. They are only out for themselves. They will throw you under the bus at any opportunity. Lots of online training, but you don't have the time to do it.

Ample room for advances. Many departments to promote up to. Flexible hours, and diverse crowd. The company trains you very well for this position. You will be comfortable in no time handling alarms. Managers acknowledged great work. Great benefits, raffles, holiday dinners, employee appreciation.

Cons

Rude customers, you have "thick skin" to be able to interact with people that you are calling at 2 am in the morning about a low battery. Or deal with the upset customer who had a break in because they refused to pay for a technician to come out to fix that broken sensor Tyco has been calling them about for the last 2 weeks. The payroll department was very unprofessional. They're based out of Boca Raton and I can recall a few times where people were shorted pay, missing checks for weeks. When I began, my $2 differential rate was missing from my check for 2 months. They straightened it out, but Payroll needs to be more reliable.
