Fine, but could do Better
22 Sept 2021 - Resident Service SpecialistRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Competitive pay, good benefits, and a great housing discount.
Cons
I wish my management was better and more consistent and my training was not good, I’d even say it was bad.

Under staffed, horrible upper management, no one is trained properly, no one knows what is going on, lack of positive reinforcement, everyones just a number company does not care about thier employees, does not follow their own company values, does not treat employees equally

Pros
Good Benefits, and property's upkeep
Cons
Work environment, If you are woman, is amazing. However, if you are the opposite sex. Good Luck with being treated equally. Sex discrimination is everywhere you go within UDR.

Pros
Amazing availability of resources, and superior structure/management as a whole. Corporate is great, very easy to talk to, and are really good about recognizing strong performance(s), but can be too 'hands off' at times (it is somewhat to be expected coming from that level). Takes advantage of new technologies and innovations to ensure optimal efficiency, and seemingly regularly wins its markets. A prime operator! As a company overall, absolutely outstanding (two thumbs up). A very ethically driven corporation, the CEO and CFO are phenomenal. Great bonus potential, and good benefits.
Cons
Lots of gossip and politics, employees can get away with too much (in general). It is easy for employees to make it look like they are being productive, whereas in reality, they are not. This is poor for morale amongst team members, who must then pick up the slack in order maintain daily operations (all to often, those employees are then overlooked as well). Employee career growth is not a major priority, and rarely do opportunities for growth come available. The 'ladder' can take you in multiple directions...not just 'up.'

Typical property management
7 Jun 2015 - Leasing Marketing AssociateRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
If you have worked in this business before, it's honestly pretty much the same as any other company. Their training is decent and they work off of onesite, which in my opinion is the best software. Pay and benefits are good.
Cons
Hard to move up bc it is very political and goes to whomever can suck up the most. Lots of budget cuts effect the resident and therefore effect you (because the resident comes in screaming to you.) turns are horrible bc of the lack of money and the maintenance start to not care because they feel like the management doesn't care. Like I said though, same as any other property management out there.

Not bad, but they changed what made UDR a wonderful company.
27 Apr 2012 - in Dallas, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The pay is good, benefits are good, some senior managers are great, and the people are wonderful.
Cons
The company its self has changed and they are selling the properties that make UDR who they are. They have become less focused on people and more on making money. I understand growth, but if you take care of your people, the people will take care of the assets, and ultimately you will see financial growth.

I enjoy working for UDR!
24 Oct 2013 - Marketing Associate in Arlington, VARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
1) Supportive management-it's rewarding to have a team supporting you and motivating you to do your best every day! It makes for a positive atmosphere and keeps the energy up! 2) Good Benefits- I'm on the PPO plan and it's 80/20 coverage. Also, the vision and dental plans are good. 3) Thorough training- UDR provides regular training 4)Pleasant work environment- We have fun in the office and share many laughs during the day. It's a great position if you enjoy meeting new people on a regular basis and creating lasting relationships!
Cons
I'm new to the company and I don't have any complaints so far!

Good for an "in between" job, not promising for a career
2 May 2011 -RecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
UDR has a good training plan implemented through the corporate office. You will probably attend 2-3 of these classes a year which helps keep your daily duties relevant. They are pretty flexible in getting time off, good benefits, and overall, everyone knows how to have a good time at work as well as outside of work.
Cons
There is a lack of communication from upper management regarding what works on a property and what they want to see implemented. The Denver office is really good at creating new business practices for everyone to follow, but horrible at researching what will actually be effective on a property. UDR will tell you what you want to hear to get you in the door and then forget about you. During the interview process, I was told that I would move up in the company within 6 months and have another big promotion most likely within a year. Needless to say, this has not happened and I was considered "lucky" to receive only a 1% raise...far from the several different types of bonuses that I was promised. I guess this raise was meritted after my job duties increased tenfold and I was not being compensated for these new dutiesI did not sign up for. When explaining my job role, I tell people I do just about everything, as that is what I do The level of professionalism at UDR is below subpar. Employees are not treated the same or with respect. HR does a horrible job addressing serious complaints, which in the end, could cost them. Everything revloves around the bottom dollar and what is best for the company, not its employees. UDR would rather hire new employees at a cheaper rate than address the issues of its hard working employees that have been with the company for years. Considering the industry, they should know that in retrospect, it is cheaper to keep a current employee than to hire a new one. Working for UDR will give you relevant industry experience and build your resume, but that is about it.

Pros
Nice people, good benefits (including the ability to stay at their upscale properties across the country). I worked there on a contract basis, but was treated like one of the team and would have loved to stay on if the position had continued. They seem to be growing so I'm keeping my eye on them for the future!
Cons
A lot of people work with headphones, so don't expect a lot of chit chat. However, when they have down time they are very caring and enjoy getting together for lunch, etc.
