      Pros

      There really are none anymore.

      Cons

Terrible work schedules or lack there of. They don't pay claims they have signed and agreed to pay the employees. Layoffs constantly. No job security. The average life expectancy is very low from the long hours and no sleep. They treat their employees like they are in a nazi war camp. The harrassment is unbelievable. You can never take a day off or they fire you. Dreadful company to work for and just gets worse every year.

      Good pay, but that's it...

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Pay, for one, highest paying job I've had yet. Health insurance is decent, yet has gotten worse over the years. But if you've had other employer offered insurance, you'll see it's considerably lower premiums.

      Cons

Where do I start? 24/7 on call, train "schedule" inaccuracies constantly, which means you don't know when you'll go to work, no personal life, even tho they claim to be a family oriented company. Management is less than desirable. PSR ( precision scheduled railroading) ...worst idea ever, the idea of saving money, NOT making money by gaining customers, is their #1 priority. Cutting jobs, equipment and track maintenance has fallen to the wayside. No one around to fix anything anymore.

      Pros

The pay and benefits are better than most.

      Cons

The time away from home can be multiple days and home time can be as little as 10 hours from time off duty until next call.

Large Layoffs = Do More with Less

14 Mar 2023 - HR Manager in Omaha, NE
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Some of the people there are great. Good bonus structure if you start out good. If you have one bad year you pay for it the following years. I received pension which was amazing. Unfortunately, the pension is no longer offer to new hires. If you don’t make anyone mad and work hard you can move up fast.

      Cons

Work is spread thin. Most people do not like their job or the Sr staff. Turnover has increased. The landscape of the departments is different. A lot of people are new at the entry and mid level.
