      Pros

      - annual leave - flexible working, a proper understanding of having caring commitments outside work and how unpredictable they can be - in some areas you are really working with ground breaking knowledge, as a non-academic, I feel I can make a difference to some really exciting research and development. - School of Physics are supportive, inclusive and progressive.

      Cons

      - career development for non- academics is limited - top heavy management structure, strongly focused on what they can get for the minimum - short sighted strategy on almost every level, it is left to lower grades on the coal face to deliver for the staff and students they work with. - parking/transpart, the city centre campus is great if you walk but if not, it can be really tough.
