I worked at University of East Anglia part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The staff are really nice and flexible with study commitments

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at University of East Anglia full-time

    Pros

Fantastic chemistry, pharmacy and biology faculty staff who supervised me. They let me take independence over my project but still gave me the guidance. Many opportunities for training within and outside of my research area. Good career guidance. Good facilities and great campus. The older buildings may be 60's brutalist but the university grounds are lovely. The new buildings are modern and have just built a state of the art science teaching building. Very good sport facilities and opportunities. I had a very good work/life balance.

    Cons

Some shared science equipment needs an upgrade.

    No Opinion of CEO

I worked at University of East Anglia full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Progression through the bands not linked to performance at all! - High salaries and generous leave allowance - Most people are unhelpful, but unless you have been 10+ years it is a challenge. Outsiders aren’t welcome.

    Cons

    - the whole place is so out of date - technology is completely useless. It has not been changed and would have last been suitable 20 years ago - Working practices are also very dated and no opportunity to streamline and refine - Most staff spend their whole careers at UEA and therefore it leads to little to no innovation, new ideas and agile working - Parking is a challenge and very experience - For a university, I would expect much better, healthier cheaper catering options
