The Venetian - The Palazzo pros/cons

      Pros

Benefits are excellent. Corporate culture as a whole is positive and employee training opportunities and classes are good. Good corporate events and community involvement. Good place with great benefits and free, covered parking if employee is thick-skinned and can handle upper management. (not all are bad!)

      Cons

Upper management in several departments exhibit extremely cliquish behavior and attitude and team members do not have the opportunity for improvement or advancement because of these cliques. Unwillingness of upper management to consider new ideas; stagnation rather than innovation. Multiple departments remain content in doing "what is" or "has been" instead of forward motion to enhance what is possible at these properties.

      Pros

Free health insurance thats about it

      Cons

The Venetian leads you into a false sense of security thinking that their ethics are way higher than anyones. When actually reporting issues the HR department has been proven to have Team members hide reports for there buddies. ( it is 100 percent confirmed a TM was fired for this issue an a big scale and they swept it under the rug) There is a huge issue with sexual harassment in the IT office, especially in the entry level positions there. Some of these men have been reported by multiple women to their direct management and still received no punishment. Heres the key to success at Venetian IT, Be: an asian male. anyone else will see immediately the culture at Venetian becomes biased per department. If you are not the same race or loved by your immediate manager you will not move forward anywhere. Another huge issue at this company is constant propoganda they will mail you letters telling you to be grateful about what you get to avoid unionization. Team Members who have brought up unions in the past suddenly find themselves without employment. If you have any job dealing with team members you will find management to be worse than needy guests, They will tear down your humanity face no repercussion and you will be told to get over it when treated this way. The Company said they had our backs during corona but our management didn't even, going as far as telling me I was about to be black listed for not showing up to optional work they stated would be optional ( as there wasn't anything to do during this time without additional vendors for projects) so I could stay safe with my family. So while they try putting forward a gracious and charitable face, it is hell to work here.

      Great Company to work for

      Pros

Great benefits, Great Team Member events. Offers training classes. The people you work with are great in other departments. The flex time off Is great. Overall this is a great company to work for. It has great values.

      Cons

Some departments no room for advancements. Work life is unbalanced. They do not seem to value those who have worked in the company a long time. Some areas need the proper tools to fully complete jobs. Hiring within should be more of a policy if possible.

Reputable company with great benefits, but can be strict and at times management nit-picky.

      Pros

High attention-to-detail, clear understanding to what is expected from employees and most team members are friendly. Benefits kick in after first 90 days and they are some of the best on the strip.

      Cons

Office politics, brown nosing can go along way and strict rules; for example you log out to use the restroom and log back in when complete...meaning if you take "too long" they might call you on it.

      IT Department Going Off Track

      11 Aug 2016 -

      Business Outlook

      Pros

**UPDATED, 2016** Shortly after my review that was originally posted in Sept, 2015, things began to go downhill within the IT department in general. I've modified the pros, cons, and advice to management. The benefits continue to be top notch, the flexible work schedule is still present, as is the opportunities for training. The managers and directors of the infrastructure division are excellent and do a lot to keep their teams as motivated as they can. Teams continue to work well together within infrastructure, and the talent within those teams continues to rise head and shoulders above any other company for whom I've worked. Our teams truly are like family.

      Cons

While the infrastructure division continues to be run by competent and intelligent leadership, the IT department as a whole has begun to fall into disarray. There's been a huge exodus in other departments, executive leadership is constantly changing, corporate henchmen have set up their own fiefdom, morale is much lower across the board, compensation is abysmal, advancement within the company is non-existent, and the CIO seems to have become lost in the corporate hubbub. There have been so many "realignments" (the new corporate buzzword for "reorganization") that I've lost track. There's a readily apparent sense of apathy from the uppermost echelons of the IT department. The HR department is one of the worst I've ever encountered. They are the ones who determine salary increases (something that is NEVER given, other than a 2% annual COLA), while refusing to allow department leadership to provide their hard-working team members with well-earned merit-based increases. The HR department acts more like risk management than employee relations.
