I have been working at Virgin America part-time

    Pros

A very fun airline to work for

    Cons

Virgin America is going away and Alaska Airlines as a brand is very different. Alaska isn't a bad airline, but if you're looking for the Virgin experience you won't find it with Alaska. Pay and hours are dreadful, and unless you have a second job or are otherwise supported, the only benefit to working here is the flight benefits.

I have been working at Virgin America for less than a year

    Pros

This position is great if you like dealing with the public and travel benefits. People you work with turn into family.

    Cons

Pay is low and hours can be long during the busy season. You work very close with coworkers... could be a blessing or a curse.

I worked at Virgin America part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The people are great! It was my first time in the airlines industry the schedules are really flexible, great training, huge on TEAM! Great benefit incentives

    Cons

Upper Management are NOT experienced, being at the airports and being the part of the front lines was pretty rough, many times In-flight was pretty rude to GSTs and consistently complaining, Beware in the industry that lots of people are two-faced, and situations which occurred at stations was not really solved properly due to favoritism. Constantly promoting inside growth but always hiring from outside company.

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs more training! Give more opportunity to people inside the company and promote more instead of hiring outside. Understand and react on behaviors in stations cause it can become bigger if left alone.

I have been working at Virgin America part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Fun place to work and the company cares about its employees and it's customers. They like "being Virgin" and love to do things in a new funky way and challenge the airline status quo. Great flight benefits!

    Cons

Pay could be higher. Also, since the airline is newer there aren't as many cities from which to choose. It is a West Coast based airline so employees living on the East Coast miss out on a lot.

    Advice to Management

Upper management cares about what happens in the different cities but I think they need to keep better tabs on what is going on when they are not there.

I have been working at Virgin America full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - paradise for passangers - fun environment - innovative ideas -many young people fresh to the industry - constant boost and reminders of company culture and values

    Cons

    - favoritism - putting guests needs way up high in the priority list - no internal guidelines or Policies and Procedures that leads to inconsistency in implementing company's policies throughout the company - expensive health benefit packages - no incentives

    Advice to Management

equal application of work rules to every employee more intensive plans
