Pros
Pros are exploring the country and getting opportunities to see things you usually wouldn’t. The crew that work at virgin are amazing and the support from most managers is great.
Cons
The EBA has a lot of room for improvement on pay, working hours and expectations. Virgin took a big hit from covid however now is the time we need to see more appreciation for the crew who make virgin the company they are known as.
- Former Employee, more than 8 years★★★★★
Pros
Staff travel privileges with VA and interline partners.
Cons
The current mass exodus of Cabin Crew and Management to competitors speaks for itself. The current morale amongst crew is the worst I have ever experienced. So many highly experienced crew are choosing to leave. Poor rostering systems = poor work life balance Overall high levels of fatigue and sickness amongst crew. Pay and conditions have deteriorated since covid. Current allowances for being away from home are below industry standard. There is no loyalty anymore. Everything is transactional.

Pros
Staff travel is good but only when you get leave approved to use it, which is rare
Cons
12-14 hour days. Only get paid for the hours you're flying, not while on turnarounds or before or after flights. Treated terribly by management and work for a measly $14 an hour and $40 an overnight. There's a mass exodus of very experienced crew because the company has ruined the role completely.

Free food and drinks Fairly regular hours Friendly team, management and receptionists Good salary for hospitality Nice, well-maintained, airconditioned and spacious lounge
Cons
Hard work Extremely busy rushes Commuting to airport/going through security is tedious Shifts anywhere between 3:00am to 10pm Some supervisors are rude

Pros
Awesome travel benefits, great exposure to any and all kinds of people meet some amazing people and life-long friends, experiences whilst working and skills learned can be transferrable to almost any other job. You do earn extra money subjective to the layovers you do but after a while, you become a home body.
Cons
Pay is tolerable if you have no kids or mortgage, if you do, have help. The rosters take time to get used to but can be flipped completely and throw you off so you HAVE to be adaptable and resilient, workspace/culture can be toxic with the combination of big personalities crammed into a plane for hours on end every day, maintaining a healthy lifestyle if very difficult due to shift work hours and time zone differences, you are definitely a number (but in saying this you can get away with a lot)

If you are useless you can get far in this organisation this includes, watching movies on your iPad, taking 50 cigarette breaks in a day. Barely turning up to the office, bringing your personal issues to work.
Cons
You can be the hardest worker and not be valued. You can reapply for your job and the “cockroach” left standing from the redundancy is the person who chooses if you get to come back. They would rather pay 8 people a crap salary than 4 people who actually want to do the job a decent salary They expect a lot from crew yet don’t do anything in return
