I worked at WakeMed Health and Hospitals part-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

This is a great company to work for, people complain about the benefits (insurance) however, it's about like everywhere else. High premium (although I never thought it was that bad), but never had to worry about when I used the insurance. Hourly pay for a registered nurse is the best in the Triangle area and the have a 403B plan that is matching.

    Cons

Lots of changes are made with little regards to how it will affect the bedside nurse. Communication could be better with management and bedside nursing.

    Negative Outlook
    No Opinion of CEO

I have been working at WakeMed Health and Hospitals full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Very few pros with this emergency department. A good, hardworking staff on night shift, competitive pay.

    Cons

During the interview, management did not disclose any information regarding on call hour requirements. There is poor staffing at all times, low employee morale, unsafe environment for patients and employees. Every shift, patients are lined up in the hallway where they are faced with poor patient care. At times, we even have Covid positive patients waiting in the waiting room with other patients that do not have it. Also, if you are a new mom that breastfeeds, they do not support breaks for pumping.
