I worked at WakeMed Health and Hospitals full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Pay and friends you will make there

    Cons

WAY understaffed. Some nurses treat you like a custodian rather than an aide. Management IS HORRIBLE on 2 West Telemetry in Cary location. I am a hard worker and have always been praised at jobs for how I handle things (was even recognized sometimes here) but the entire unit whether it was co-workers or management was literally like going back to high school. I quit for this very reason. No body knows what’s going... on hardly ever. Rules for the employees change so often that you can’t get anything straight. The nurse aide to patient ratio (especially on night shift is RIDICULOUS for hospital treated patients) expect 15 by yourself every night with LITTLE help from nurses because they are also busy with their ratios.

    Advice to Management

Quit your job please. Wake Med, hire professionals that actually know what they’re doing and keep them. The 2 years I was there was a complete mess and I’ll continue to steer my friends and family away from working there.

I have been working at WakeMed Health and Hospitals full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The paid time off and pay are great

    Cons

So petty using other people word of mouth to fire someone making people feel like they are monsters and taking too much out of what is sd in private. Things sd in private should stay that way. Be flexible

    Advice to Management

Look at the job the people do not bc someone is coming to u and saying this person this and that person that. Most of the time it is those people who can cause an entire problem. Also treat people with respect

  7. "Raleigh Cath Lab"

    StarStarStarStarStar

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at WakeMed Health and Hospitals

    Pros

    Great Coworkers and Great Pay

    Cons

EXTREMELY POOR LEADERSHIP Issues are not handled properly. Employees are encouraged to “work” things out amongst themselves, so Manager/Supervisors don’t have to get involved. This never goes well. Very poor communication Employees not rewarded properly Will continue to lose good people RNs should not have to cover the Reception Area because one incompetent person doesn’t come to work.

    Advice to Management

Upper Management needs to do a clean sweep of Cath Lab Management. Start from scratch.

I worked at WakeMed Health and Hospitals full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Some of the best employee benefits in the area. Continued growth in the area of Wake County.

    Cons

Bullying is swept under the carpet, even though the company has a strong "Anti Bullying" policy.

    Advice to Management

Remember that without your Laboratory, you cannot function as a hospital. Just remember what happened to Cleveland Clinic when they lost their Blood Bank. Imagine if you had no laboratory staffing. A hospital is not all about the nurses and providers.
