I worked at Whitbread full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Still a nice environment to work , still some good people work there. Can be flexible in terms of working hours etc ( It used to be... as thing start changing now) If you are a contractor and do not care much about quality of work but getting things done quickly then apply. It is a paradise!!!

    Cons

If you are a developer, tester, technical analyst, tech architect or devops guy or in general consider yourself technical from an engineering perspective... please avoid this place. The engineering culture has become pure micro management. There is no technical leadership, people are frustrated. Every other week you get invites for people's leaving drinks. It's sad. They are struggling to get good people on board, because most of them reject the low salary offers. They prefer to hire contractors instead. So if you are good at your work and ask for money...great! , but skip this place as it's a total waste of time if you want to grow professionally. It is very sad to see a digital office full of talented engineers to have ended into a network of old school micro managers.

I have been working at Whitbread full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The company offers competitive salaries and it has a good environment to work in. The perks offered to employees are amazing and Whitbread Digital is very comfortably located. Finally, promotions do happen and the company is keen on keeping good people.

    Cons

Unfortunately, most of Digital management lacks technical knowledge and practical skills and many wrong decisions are taken. Many times feedback is not addressed. Also, a lot of useful knowledge is given to contractors than the permanent staff. Because of these, good people the company wants and needs to keep often leave.

I have been working at Whitbread part-time

    Pros

Lots of hours, generally friendly staff. A nice environment to work in and would recommend to others.

    Cons

Always late to receive rotas - sometimes difficult to get time off or swap shifts because of this.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We really value our teams’ feedback and it’s important to us that our people feel supported by their line manager and there are procedures in place to ensure this. It's no secret that the hospitality industry can be incredibly demanding, with stretching targets and sometimes long shifts. We know this and work very hard to take care of our team members, constantly improving the way we do things and ensuring we create a great working environment. So please pick this up with your Line Manager around the rotas.

Thank you for your review, it's good to hear you enjoyed your role and the team you worked with. Working in the hospitality industry can be demanding, but we recognise it's important to get the right balance between challenging and impossible. Thanks for the feedback . We take our teams' welfare very seriously and have numerous channels available for them to raise any issues, with their Line Manager in the first instance but if this isn't appropriate there is a process they can follow. We also partner with Hospitality Action who offer an independent, and totally confidential, service available to all our employee's 24 hours per day, 365 days a year. They can be contacted on 0808 802 2111.
