I have been working at Wilson Elser full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good support, nice people if you are in the right group. Good network, lots of offices. Good amount of work. Learns a lot

    Cons

Long hours, draining work. Feels like churning the way people are always hired and leave. If you have a bad group led by a bad partner, work will be very stressful

    Advice to Management

Nothing really. Management chose a business structure and went with it. If you choose to run a business this way, it really doesn't help for me to recommend that you raise salary or reduce work hours - it's not in the system.

I worked at Wilson Elser full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great benefits: medical, dental, vision, 401k, profit sharing, commuter benefits, expense reimbursement, low billing requisite, paid time off, scholarships, CLE events

    Cons

This place was a sad good bye because I wanted to like working here, see pros section. But it was impossible to want to appreciate such a toxic work environment. Egos here run very high whether from attorneys and/or senior staffers. Putting people down or talking down to them as if they are idiots seemed to be the norm -- unknowingly, at least to my knowledge, to management. People who work here are combative,...

    Advice to Management

There is a fine line difference between skill and downright rude behavior. Just because an attorney has a bar license does not give them the right to disparage an employee. With that being said, the same applies to high seniority staffers. Working in the legal field requires a team effort, not a single person. Pay attention to your staff and be more involved in what goes around. Make them feel as if they have a voice,...

I worked at Wilson Elser full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Large firm, experience builder, lots of time off (you're going to need it)

      Cons

Over all this firm does not care about it's employees. What is best for the firm always comes first, they lack a sense of humanity. There are a few decent managers but it is not the standard. Benefits are unimpressive and they charge you a hefty fee to add a spouse if they have access to health care through their employer. Decent staff below management level don't seem to stick around too often. If you are looking for...

I have been working at Wilson Elser full-time

      Pros

The best insurance defense law firm in the country with partners who work harder than they ask you to work !! Very much of a "can do" environment that supports creative cost effective approaches to solving problems for the Firm.

      Cons

Continue to work with learning about what others think before you react.

      Advice to Management

Ask others their opinions more than just those you work with everyday.

I have been working at Wilson Elser

      Pros

They have plenty of corporate discounts Most of the attorneys show appreciation for staff Can be laidback at times

      Cons

Workload can be overwhelming Attorney’s seem to be very disorganized and there is a disconnect between expectations, and results High turnover

      Advice to Management

Try to develop continuity between all the offices and try to hire more minorities to show diversity. This will also help your non-attorney staff be more comfortable in 2018!
