I worked at Windstream full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Gained a ton of experience. Worked directly on Cisco switches, firewalls, Adtran, routers. Configs etc.

    Cons

The department I worked in was support focused so I was in a call queue, and call volume could be so high at times that you felt like you were drowning. Add to that the nature of the calls being always negative (they call in when something is broken of course) calling 3rd party ISP's, dealing with lazy ISP techs in the field, it was stressful.

    Advice to Management

Recommend that instead of cutting positions to save some $, that be invested in more employees to offset the amount of work needing to be done by a fraction. As someone once said "Give your employees the tools and experience to succeeded, but treat them well so they'll stay"

You have to read a sales script word for word no matter what the customer says

I have been working at Windstream full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

New hires are given 3 weeks of training, then go "live" st 50% quota for one month, then 75% quota for one more month, then they are at full quota. There's plenty of opportunity for voluntary overtime, some mandatory overtime is required, and you are encouraged to make as much money as you can.

Supervisors are positive people, after all, they want you to sell to make them money as well. Once the newness of the job wears off, it does become a grind to be constantly on the phones. With that in mind, Windstream gave me, and older person, a chance. Many companies won't hire someone in their 50s, so I am appreciative. The "grind" of the phones is tolerable when compared with many other jobs out there, and W/E call center is clean and comfortable, with large area of workspace provided for each agent. Each phone call is a chance to earn $$$, so is a motivation to come into work and get on the phone.

    Cons

It is a call center and you are chained to the phone, except for two 15 minute breaks and a lunch break. I would have liked more training, but someone with call center experience will have no problem. I didn't have any call center experience...

    Advice to Management

Keep the quotas reasonable. I appreciate the updates/fine tuning of the script.
