Pros
Lower and middle management generally cares about the people
Cons
Senior management lacks emotional intelligence when it comes to their employees. Upper management is willing to sacrifice good people and reward people who do things like skip over their direct leadership to try to make a name for themselves. Salaried employees don't get raises, we were told that there were out of band compensation increases but when you ask how you qualify for one no one seems to know. They will tell you that they review everyone's, pay every 36 months. But a 3% raise every 3 years doesn't even keep up with the national inflation rate over that same period.

Good place to work with the potential to be great.
16 Jun 2021 - Network Analyst III in Chicago, ILRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Remote office is the primary position for many of the work groups even before the pandemic. Flexible scheduling with 4 X 10 hour shifts and mid day shifts available. Treated with respect and the culture strives to be all inclusive. Pay is good and cost of living of your local area is considered when negotiating your pay. Benefits are good, 401 matching $1 for $1 at 3% and another $.50 up to 5%. Merit raises every year help with cost of living increases. Training is offered and encouraged. Great opportunity for advancement.
Cons
Departments are a kind of like a "assembly line" with each one having a specific task. This can result in a poor customer experience. Upper management will change direction with a specific product and existing customers can be hung out to dry.

Upside Down (and backwards)

If you love being continually amazed, you should work at Windstream. Any company you work at after this will seem amazing.
Cons
Everything will be mysteriously arduous and you will never quite know why. If ever there was a company that substituted strategy for tactics, this is it. It would appear that upper management would believe that it is better to achieve objectives via sheer force of will than to utilize strategy and planning. Gaslighting is not only common, it is the path.

The pay is awesome so good that it is hard to find a job making what you started at Windstream.
Cons
Layoffs to ensure that upper management kept their job. Also didn't replace those laid off so the ones staying still had to do their job and fill in for the people that they just laid off.

Good opportunity but poor upper management.

Decent flexibility for Work/Life balance. WFH available during pandemic and future possibilities of permanent availability. Opportunities for upward mobility are regularly available due to inside promotion.
Cons
Poor communication from upper management, recent financial troubles at corporate level caused a chaotic restructuring. Shifting responsibilities with little support or documentation to assist training.
