Great work life balance, Lots of layoffs
1 Mar 2021 - Planner in Vancouver, WARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The Work Life balance is great with how much PTO and optional holidays you get. I loved my supervisor and co-workers and got to work from home. They do offer a decent severance package and vacation payouts if you're laid off.
Cons
They have a lot of layoffs. I started with EarthLink and then Windstream bought them and about a year after the two companies merged, the stream of layoffs occurred. Usually every few months they would layoff hundreds of employees. I finally got my call after about 6 layoffs and I know within the roughly after 6 months they had another 3 layoffs as well. You've always gotta look over your shoulder and be prepared.

JUST SAY NO TO WORKING HERE
27 Jan 2021 - Specialist Technician in Harrison, ARRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Work from home, plethora of cash to throw around after receiving multi-billion dollar federal grant to bring high speed internet access to underserved markets.
Cons
Employees are treated as numbers and not people. The HR staff serves the role of enforcement for Management. I've seen too many people take issues with their co-workers or Managers to HR only to be given walking papers in the following weeks. It's made obvious that you are not to create any waves and if you are the subject of any abuses, you'd better keep it to yourself if you'd like to remained employed. This seems to be a nationwide trend, though, and not isolated solely to Windstream. However, it's definitely a prevalent practice here at Windstream.
