I worked at Wm Morrison Supermarkets part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent holiday entitlement, competetive wage for a retail role and decent breaks for amount of hours worked.

    Cons

I worked in a large Morrisons store and then a small store that used to be an M Local. The company had a lack of understanding of how a small store differs dramatically to a big store and it made it a difficult environment to work in at times. Orders were wrong a lot, and we had excess stuff we had to reduce, as we simply didn't have to room to stock it on the shelves and sell in time before expiry.

I worked at Wm Morrison Supermarkets part-time

    Pros

I worked here whilst I was at University in Leeds. Morrisons were great and allowed students to transfer to home store during holidays.

    Cons

Nothing really.. it is what you would expect from working in a supermarket.

I have been working at Wm Morrison Supermarkets part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great team environment, managers were easy to communicate with and in my department I was able to work overtime frequently if desired.

    Cons

    Limited progression and generally understaffed.

    Advice to Management

Reduce pressure on staff by replacing staff as they're needed rather than employing in bulk at set times of the year

  9. "Decent Part Time Work"

I have been working at Wm Morrison Supermarkets part-time

    Pros

Most of the staff in the store I work at are lovely, the pay is pretty good (especially for a uni student) and they take other commitments into account when giving you shifts

    Cons

They will often try and make you come in when you call in sick with a legitimate reason and generally won't send you home either (I had the flu one time and I could hardly move; every customer told me I should be at home and I still wasn't allowed to leave) and checkouts can get quite boring during long shifts.

I have been working at Wm Morrison Supermarkets part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Fast paced at times,
    -Great team of colleagues,
-Freedom of initiatives to a certain degree and at certain situations.
-Friendly and helpful team of management

    Cons

-Management can be a tad slow sometimes,
-One person is expected to do the work of many in some occasions.

    Advice to Management

Please hire more staff. It’s extremely difficult for us to cover multiple areas at peak times when we’re on our own.

I have been working at Wm Morrison Supermarkets part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It really feels like a team environment at Morrisons and there is no feel of hierarchy or superiority amongst staff; everyone pulls together. Managers are considerate of personal requirements for rota scheduling, and try and make it fair for everyone. Good personal and store rewards for good performance.

    Cons

A few of us were hired on 10 hour contracts but had a section in the contract saying we had to be flexible and do overtime when expected, which was not the case for workers on other contracts. Because of this we have had little say in how many hours we do a week without having to ask every time to change it, and have done a lot of undesirable Christmas hours whereas others were able to refuse.
