I have been working at Xilinx full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

XIlinx is a company that en cashes the candidate situation. not always good for the company. generally the hiring happens based on local candidature, to encash as much as possible

    Cons

dirty politics at Sr management level.. micor management of Sr management in every small issue too much work pressure very less people get to do quality work at Hyderabad-- dont get in to hiring trap

    Advice to Management

control dirty politics and reward to the people who work for company.. not for persons.

I have been working at Xilinx full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Pays well and good bonuses. Work is interesting and leading edge.

    Cons

Adopted American sweat shop mentality, which is fine if they only want you to stay a few years and move on to a new company but this is not the European way. FPGA technology is expensive and the company is having a tougher time competing against the ASIC guys as they integrate more and more functionality on chip.

    Advice to Management

Loosen up and trust your employees more.

I worked at Xilinx full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Very good pay. Still a market leader through just going only through process nodes.

    Cons

Don't get sick. Even if you're confined to bed rest in a hospital they'll still keep calling you asking you to come in. Lip service is paid to caring for employees; meaningless offsites address the symptoms, not problems.

    Advice to Management

We're not robots. Bottom line and cutting corners are not everything. Get real managers and reposition those Peter Principle failures pervading your company. They may have been brilliant technically once but now they're all office politicians.

    No opinion of CEO

    I worked at Xilinx full-time

    Pros

Xilinx has excellent technology and should be a market leader for many years to come. The current Virtex-7, Kintex-7 and Zynq-7000 families are strong products that will perform very well. The new Vivado software is also quite good and will help maintain Xilinx's position as a market leader.

    Cons

The satellite offices are treated as secondary to the headquarters in San Jose or the development office in Hyderabad, India. Opportunities are currently very limited for anyone that does not work in one of those two offices.

    Advice to Management

Don't ignore the capabilities of the people in the satellite offices. They have a wealth of knowledge that could be very helpful to the company.

    I worked at Xilinx

    Pros

Latest technology. Highly profitable company and comparativley stable employment. Colleagues are usually nice to work with.

    Cons

Bad employment review process, become worse with new managment. Mismanaged the last few product cycles of past 4-5years and losing market share. Limited opportunity for career growth unless you can talk BS with mid- and upper-level managemtn. Too many senior people not doing anything and executives lack of communication and outsourcoing all new jobs to India and Singapore.

    Advice to Management

Do evaluation of how the rank employees feel and try to do a better job of determining deadlines and project goals.
