    I worked at Xilinx

    Pros

They are (were?) leaders in the field, so if you are into FPGAs, this is the place to work. Colleagues were really nice guys.

    Cons

Not very exciting work. Projects were not really interesting. Not very flexible in terms of working hours. Awful "internal marketing" strategies (which might be common for US-based companies) of very low aesthetics, which made you feel as if you were a low IQ super bowl spectator. OK, you do not expect from senior management of such companies to be aesthetically very refined, but appearing on stage as sports/rock superstars is too much.

I worked at Xilinx full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Still many good people working there and there's reasonable work/life balance. The pay was pretty good for top performers. Working there under Wim was the best experience of my career. The products are good and exciting to work with.

    Cons

Corporate culture was completely trashed by Moshe and the managers he brought in. The company that Bernie built and Wim even improved upon has been ruined for its employees and customers. The culture that is pervasive now is one of politics and back stabbing. The values of honesty and transparency have been eliminated by senior management by making employees fearful. Speaking up will get you fired in the next round of quarterly layoffs.

I have been working at Xilinx full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Nothing great about the company

    Cons

Attrition rate is too high. On an average 5 people leave every month. It feels to be working in a SME or even lower rather than in an MNC. Senior management is more focused on cost saving rather than providing appropriate employee benefits. There’s too much politics here, full of people who are loud and show-off more than what they are actually doing. Quiet, hard working people will have no way here because they don’t show-off what they are working on. Even the managers speak mandarin , so it’s very difficult for a non-mandarin speaker to survive in this company. You will feel left out. You are considered a saint if you staying late after office hours even if there’s no work. People who finish their work and leave at 5:30 pm are devils. Departments do not co-operate each other, rather contradict each other in order to save their faces and incapacities. Promotions are almost NIL. You may stay at the same position for 6 years, just for the fact that you leave office in time in the evening and is considered to be non-hardworking by the senior management.

I have been working at Xilinx

    Pros

    - Salary and benefits are good. - There are some very good technical people around to learn from. - Interesting technology with real potential. - You are given a lot of latitude to organize your work and time as you see fit.

    Cons

    - The senior management team is very weak. Some are self-obsessed to the point of clinical narcissism. - Teamwork between employees and between teams is now very poor. This aspect has degraded significantly since the new management regime moved in. - Excessive (and increasing) cronyism and politics. - Very long hours with little recognition or opportunity to progress based on doing your job well.

I have been working at Xilinx

    Pros

Reasonable benefits (a remnant from the good times) The technology is exciting and (for now) Xilinx is the market leader Individual teams have some terrific people

    Cons

In many cases, the employee relationship with senior management is very dysfunctional Way too many directors/senior directors/VPs brought in from outside No clear direction and ownership is I'll defined Projects seem to be over managed until deadlines are missed, then it's a frenzy

    I worked at Xilinx

    Pros

When Xilinx gets a better senior management team, maybe they will climb out of the hole that they are in today.

    Cons

The current senior management is terrible. Where is Wim and Bernie when you need them? 2009, 2010 was like a huge experiment to Moshe and his cronies. We were kicking Altera's tail until they current management took over.
