    Pros

    Kind coworkers, relaxed work environment

    Cons

ADS was fairly high for price of products; up-selling is difficult with candles, too

    Advice to Management

Find other ways aside from ADS to motivate sales associates to create value

I have been working at Yankee Candle full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

its a great fill in job if you come at a loose end- no references, and bad work history. Its a safe environment

    Cons

nothing really, but its low pay.. i dont like rotational shift patterns and there are very few skills to pick up

    Advice to Management

There are two shifts, male generally and then the females. ~The males talk about non procreative "love" constantly and crudely. The females on the other shift talk about broken heart, lost love, faithless men...and how pets are the only thing they will trust. I tell each shift that what defines us, is being a good brother friend, honourable son, loving uncle..... not being a pet owner or alone in solo act of sexual frustration. Between them all they have 3 children. I'm a homeless and live on a £1 a day but I do not have their poverty.

    Pros

The cultural environment is very positive and friendly. Everyone that works here gets along well and they truly keep you and your feelings in mind.

    Cons

There is very little room for advancement. I would love to stay with this company however I need something more challangeing.

    Advice to Management

Always listen to your employees feedback, even if you think it will not help you. Make sure to always keep them in mind.

    Pros

    Candles, Friendly Customers, Decent Hours

    Cons

Micromanagement, Not Fun, PETTY, Cheapskates, Old School Technology, Associates lazy, Training is a joke. Insurance is not insurance. And its 200 a month.

    Advice to Management

Stop telling your associates that they are dumb. Stop micromanaging everything! Let people learn at there own pace. Everyone makes mistakes. Come up with a system to hold your associates accountable. Be nicer to people and make it more personal. Put people in management that actually come from retail and customer relations. And be prepared to be LOW balled on pay.

I worked at Yankee Candle full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Everyone is friendly, almost like family.

    Cons

Pay is horrible. District and regional manager are emailing your store 50 times per day making sure every single detail is perfect. God forbid if you miss an email, their heads might explode.

    Advice to Management

To senior management: stop opening stores in areas where there are surrending stores who are stuffing to meet sales goals. YC used to be fun, stress is the number one reason I left.

I have been working at Yankee Candle full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great product with a great discount
    The regular customers
    Lots of room for growth
The people you meet, in your own store and others too

I started as a part-time sales associate. I’ve been with the company for 5 1/2 years and I’m now a Store Manager and have my own store. This was my first job and I’ve grown so much with it. I love all the people I get to meet, and I’m lucky to have a wonderful District Manager. It gets hectic at times, but I feel like it’s worth it. Yes, the secret shop is 4x a year, but if you make it more about getting to know your guest and how they fragrance their home, it comes naturally and doesn’t come off as pushy.

    Cons

I don’t really have a lot to complain about
