Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are working hard to improve our culture and have taken big steps in this through the introduction of our new values. We are seeing amazing examples of our people demonstrating these daily, however it is a shame to see that you are seeing examples of a bullying culture. Please reach out to your HRBP so that we can explore this further.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are very proud of our internal training teams and programmes so it is fantastic to hear that our people feel the same! We are working our way through the issues that Covid-19 has bought to the table, like a lot of Companies and are looking forward to coming out the other side!

I have been working at Yell full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Good money if you’re prepared to mislead people on stats.

    Cons

    - You’re actively encouraged to mislead people with stats in your sales pitch (yells usage at 38million which doesn’t necessarily directly impact the paid listings from a google point of view, this traffic is under 10million) - hard sales tactics , you have to sell on the day and are forced to pressure people into decisions because if they don’t buy on the day and do any due diligence you will not sign them. - the advertising doesn’t work as the products are not fit for purpose, this weighs down on you big time especially as you build great relationships with customers and you know that 95% of the time it won’t work out for them. - the opposite of a customer centric company, trap people in long term contracts with products which don’t perform, and potentially ruin their businesses as a result - team managers don’t understand digital marketing and try push you to sell at all costs instead of what’s right for the customer - definitely elements of bullying and belittling in my team, manager was sexist.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Yell full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Decent working hours Bonus achievable - £2,500 a month easily L&D team quite good knowledge on yell propaganda (doesn't always match with industry good practice so don't try and do any CPD outside of work) Good office/location

    Cons

-Most management I have encountered are like football coaches delivering motivational speeches that contain no substance daily. This is a recurring theme throughout the company - plenty of people talk lots but say little. . - be prepared to deal with agitated customers daily, most of the people you call will have been rang 20/30+ times in the last month before you speak to them. - management quote Jordan Belfort so expect that type of approach to customers. - CEO talking a good game but lower/middle management either don't understand the new direction the company is meant to move in or don't care. - always in the press or online for the wrong reason's - embarrassed to work here sometimes.

I have been working at Yell full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The atmosphere is usually great. Bonus potential is high and rewarding for those willing to graft. Rapid Change in te industry so the business reacts and adapts to that. The Leadership Change in the business is a welcome one. I truly believe that they will bring Yell back to greatness!

    Cons

The main con is the previous atmosphere and attitude that has been bred into the company by the previous leadership team. The new CEO and SLT are working to remove that and truly change the company for the better but it will take time.
