I worked at Zomato full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked at Zomato for a long time, and probably have a decent insight on how it is. Imagine an office, which is located at a lush green farm house in a posh locality. You have a table tennis table, place to play football, swimming pool, badminton court and a kitchen which is always full with everything you love. I worked with one of the most brightest minds and it was an amazing experience.

    Cons

You have to be able to offer something better and be aggressive with digital marketing as Zomato has been around for quite some time and the market is kinda heavy in competition.

I have been working at Zomato full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1. CTO is very hardworking and understanding.
    2. Colleagues are very cool and team work is always on a high energy level.
    3. You get pretty good beefy systems to work on.
    4. Office space is magnificent with good food.
    5. Loads of interesting projects, so never felt like didn't have anything to do.
    6. Very high traffic and business, so good learning experience in those regards.
    7. Some PMs and EMs are the best people I have worked with till date.

    Cons

    1. No process in tech whatsoever, everything is done in an adhoc manner and the systems are not that robust and well-made to handle frequent changes.
    2. Company is very understaffed compared to the scale of features being taken up, hiring has started taking place but senior management has promised features to investors and merchants way too early before people actually get onboarded properly.
    3. Numerous people here suffering from stress, anxiety and back-pains due to absurd amount of working hours with no recreational activities in between.
    4. Except some selected few, all the product managers have close to no experience in the technical space, leading to huge management blunders and wasted time and effort of technical people.
    5. Tech stack is seriously outdated and the monolithic architecture just doesn't help, proposals have been made for technical improvements but business-specific features always takes priority over technical quality.

    Advice to Management

I'm pretty sure that the senior management is aware of all the issues anyway, but right now clearly business is put forward before everything else, more priority is given to investors'/merchants'/customers' demands rather than the employees' requirements. But hey, if that means getting loads of cash for yourselves who cares anyway?
