    Cons

I have been working at athenahealth full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good talented team members at lower levels.
Good Work life balance atleast till a year ago.
    Decent pay.
    Re-org with good cause.

    Cons

With focus being shifted in developing centers in India, there is lot of politics played by people in higher levels (Managers and above). They are more focussed on their personal growth than the growth of the company. They are least bothered about the career growth of the employees. They let down the developers and leads who have been working for the growth of the team once the team is stabilized . They just use them for their growth.

Current developers is not given opportunity for growth.

There are many process and technical changes happening which is good but this is being misused and reframed by higher managers in chennai for their growth and benefit affecting the actual contributors who reports to them.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the actual contributors rather than the middle man in the name of people Managers or so. Beware of the managers (senior managers and above) in chennai, they are self focussed and the politics they play affects the people who truly contribute. This happens in most of the new teams reformed in past one year. This will definitely affect the company and its culture.

I have been working at athenahealth full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good location right in the heart of the city and good pantry office space to cool yourself and hang out

    Cons

There is lot of office politics and preferential treatment for folks who have worked with the executive directors earlier or in their good books others Will be sidelined and asked to leave, firing of employees without reason is very rampant here

    Advice to Management

With company losing CFO ,CPO(we get a new chief people officer every year) recently I don't think there is anyone who take care of the culture anymore

I have been working at athenahealth full-time

    Pros

    Reasonable pay scale
    Nothing other than that..

    Cons

Lot of internal politics and the sad part is directors and managers are on the top on this..
    Re-org Multiple times a year.
Unethical and sudden firing of lot of employees
Perl technology for everything and no scope of learning
New CTO disturbed the company and culture a lot
Hiring employees for a technology and after joining they need to work on other technology and is a kind of cheating.
    No proper product management
Hiring POs who doesn't have any knowledge in the domain which is burden for the team.
    Many More.......

    Advice to Management

Build a good employee base and beware of internal politics. With current culture and situation no one can take this company to the next level at least in AHI. A sign of stability is far away in the current situation.
