    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at bioMérieux full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

-Great Benefits ( health insurance/401k) -$3/day towards meals in cafeteria

    Cons

Although the company seems to understand the value of good benefits it seems to stop there. The management at the Durham plant seem aloof and a bit clueless. They seem to narrow in on trivial details while completely ignoring real issues such as faulty equipment and excessive waste/discards. If production and numbers are so important why is such excessive waste deemed ok? They also claim to care about safety first... but after turning in over 10 safety suggestion cards ( I've worked here for several years) there is no follow-up and the complaints are ignored. Manufacturing employees are also responsible for cleaning post-production. This would not be a big deal if employees were given the proper tools necessary and not required to get on their hands and knees picking up packaging debris and sticking their hands into equipment to clean ( causing bumps, scrapes etc). Their cleaning methods seem ancient and counter-productive. I've worked on both night and day shifts. If you are looking to work here I definitely recommend nights. The people are much nicer and professional. The majority of technicians on day shift seem to enjoy getting others in trouble instead of addressing the issues that are usually trivial. Management seems to allow negative, toxic employees to run the show. There seems to be a lot of jealousy and entitled attitudes from the employees that have been there the longest. Unfortunately this will push the good employees out and leave you with toxic, lazy, individuals. Certain teams seem to be over-staffed while other teams under-staffed. Training leaves a lot to be desired. You are pretty much thrown into it and hope you don't make a mistake.

    Advice to Management

Please look at the bigger picture to increase profits. Hold employees accountable, but hire qualified, professional individuals that foster positivity and team work.
